Transportation User’s Guide
Can’t stand traffic jams? Hesitant to come because you are not sure how to get here? Afraid you will end
up stuck until dawn? To help you with your planning, here are a number of practical tips on the various
options that will help reduce not just the traffic but also your level of stress… The most practical and
ecological way to come to Montreux during the Festival is to use public transportation.

At the Montreux Jazz Festival, SBB expands its offer by reinforcing regular trains and running special trains.

Take the special trains! Because these will not be too crowded, you’ll travel more comfortably.

Buy the special ticket for the Montreux Jazz Festival for the outward and return journey. The train ticket
is valid up to 5am. on the day following the date printed on the ticket.

Seats at the very front of the train: in the long-distance trains there are usually seats available in the
front compartments.

Due to the concerts ending late, it is not always possible to reach all parts of the country and connections
via public transport. You can find information on the best connections on the online timetable prior to the
Festival.
BUS
Special bus lines between the Montreux region and various Swiss cities are available during the Festival.
There will be free shuttles to and from the Festival parkings provided by VMCV (Vevey-Montreux-Chillon-Villeneuve public transportation system).

FREE PARKINGS LOTS
There will be free parking lots situated in the areas surrounding Montreux, with free shuttles to and from the
Festival grounds provided by VMCV (Vevey-Montreux-Chillon-Villeneuve public transportation system).
PLEASE NOTE THAT:
•When you arrive in Montreux, follow the special traffic signs and instructions from public
safety staff to find these parking lots.
•Parking outside of official spots is prohibited. Even if you think you have found a spot that
won’t bother anyone, you could well block access by emergency responders or technicians.
•Street parking is possible until 5:00am, but thereafter the roadway must be clear–any remaining vehicles will be towed at their owner’s expense.
Persons with reduced mobility may obtain a parking space near the Convention Centre. Access to this parking
lot is reserved for vehicles with official handicap tags, and is subject to availability.

CAR SHARING
The slogan “E” for “Ensemble” applies equally well to the musical ambiance at the Montreux Jazz Festival
and to the concept of car sharing. Wouldn’t it be more fun to take a car trip with other happy festivalgoers
than to listen to the same old songs on your headphones in a crowded bus?
