Study Group Global Education at Protestant Universities for Applied Sciences / AGLEH Perspectives of development – an understanding on professional cooperation An international workshop on development cooperation in the context of Community Education and Social Work Evangelische Hochschule Freiburg - 17.-21.Mai 2016 Programme Introduction The process of this workshop is based on the expertise of the participants, on their different contexts of life and professional experiences. These will be deliberately put into relation with the impact of measures taken (Wirkungszusammenhang). This results in the following basic dynamics: - - There will be many open spaces in which experiences, perceptions, suggestions, backgrounds and expectations will be continually exchanged and amplified in the various group formations. The complexity of the main subject “Development” will, on the one hand, not be reduced, but, on the other hand, will be focused on four different levels for the theoretical debate: o Global visions of development: On this level, universal and basic facts across target groups will be considered with a view to a developing world. o Local initiatives and perspectives: This deals with the level of concrete realities of life, on which development can be lived in all its perspectives and potentials. o International EZ – Church: In how far is international cooperation possible and sensible/reasonable? Which actual tendencies, possibly even not exploited resources, exist on the level of internationally active organisations as well as on the level of communities and partner groups? - - o Professionalism of Social Work / Community Education: Finally, the level of professionalism. How can which development perspectives be stimulated and supported? What does this mean in respect of training? How can this be represented by the program of 3- to 4-monthly practical training in partner organisations of Bread for the World During the workshop 4 movable walls on which the findings, questions or suggestions concerning one of the levels will be at the disposal of the participants. The inputs are meant to stimulate continued reflexions and, at the same time, take up previous discussions as far as this is possible, for the requested lecturers. Expected profits for the participants: General: - Identification of different expectations and visions of development Debate on possible strategies in the face of limited resources in the EZ Developing standards and elements of professional activities Increasing international cooperation of the level of training For the students: - Sensitisation for an international process of dialogue in the EZ In-depth reflexion of own professionalism Integration into a strategic discussion on perspectives in the EZ Training of intercultural competence for encounters For the departments of internship of the EHs and North-NROs Sensitisation for different requirements in professional practical training Potentials and limits of professionalising in the EZ Tuesday – 17.5.16 Different perspectives – is a common target/aim possible?
