The groups for training:
Group 1 = Best drivers Nürburgring Drift Cup 2015 ( drivers finished in top 28)
Group 2 = drivers who finished outside top 28 of the Nürburgring Drift Cup 2015
Group 3 = drivers who are new to the championship or ended very low in the standings of 2015
Drivers of group 3 will be evaluated during the final practice sessions on qualifying day:
The judges have the right to exclude some drifters of group 3 from qualifying if they don’t reach the standards to drive a good lap on the track or if
they had too many off track excursions during the training sessions.
Who will qualify for which final?
The A-final will be formed with the top 14 qualifiers plus the 2 B-final finalists
The B-final will be formed by the P14-P28 qualifiers plus the 2 C-final finalists
The C-final will be formed with the P29-P44 qualifiers.
Basic judging rules during qualifying:
There will be 3 judges (line, angle, style).
Because of the often changing conditions at the Nürburgring we don’t give a points value to the speed although we might measure it.
spin = 0 points
outside wheel in dirt = 0 points
inside wheel off track = points deduction
straightening at transition is massive points deduction
this track needs speed, don’t become to slow by using the e-brake too hard at the entry
How do we run the qualifying?
in every group we run the highest number first, the lowest number last
the cars are in 1 line, first all cars do their first run, then their second run and finally their third run.
there is no warm-up
Basic judging rules during battles:
don’t play games with the entry speed. There will be a start cone judge to see if the leader is up to speed.
if you play games you start with a points deduction.
the leader tries to drive a perfect qualifying run
the chaser sees the leader as moving clipping point
no passing, only if leader goes complete off track
no break checking by leader
after first battle, the jury will announce who had the better run and what kind of advantage there is.
after the second run the judges decide who will go on to the next round or if there will be a re-run if there could no decision be made.
General rules:
no drifting in paddock
no standing burnout anywhere
trailers must be parked outside the gate
no open fire in paddock
no driving on track with any vehicle during night
any driver/team who behaves bad in paddock or on track can get an official warning.
after the second official warning your event is over!
