CANALSAT RECEIVER REAUTHORIZATION
Europe
Degradation or loss of signal may be caused by adverse
weather or aircraft location (at the edge or outside of the
European service footprint). All of these factors can interfere
with CanalSat reauthorization. CanalSat broadcasts reactivation
codes several times during a two month “validity period” for all
active access cards.
If the aircraft has not viewed CanalSat channels over the last
two months, the receiver will lose authorization rights. If that is
the case please follow the below instructions:
1. Make sure that the aircraft is within the European footprint
with favorable weather conditions.
2. Make sure that the antenna has a clear line of sight to the
CanalSat satellite.
3. Power up the TV system and initialize the aircraft’s altitude
reference system.
4. Route the first European receiver video output to a cabin
monitor.
5. If the receiver is not active, the cabin monitor should display
scrambled video.
6. Tune the receiver to any encrypted Canalsat channel (no
specific channel required). After 10-30 minutes the channel
should become unscrambled.
7. Repeat steps 6 for each scrambled European receiver
installed on the aircraft.
