COP 21
From Nov. 30 to Dec. 12, 2015, world
leaders will meet in Paris, France, for the
first time in over 20 years of UN
negotiations, aim to achieve a legally
binding and universal agreement on
climate, with the aim of keeping global
warming below 2°C.
The conference is expected to attract close
to 50,000 participants including 25,000
official delegates from government,
intergovernmental organisations, UN
agencies, NGOs and civil society.
CAMP CLIMATE
The YMCA believes young people should be
given opportunities to learn and advocate
on environmental issues and that every
young person has the ability to contribute
to reducing environmental degradation and
its consequences.
Based on the fact that strong youth
participation during COP 21 is at risk for
multiple factors, but specially because of
the costs of staying in Paris and lack of
opportunities for real coordination, the
YMCA has created “Camp Climate”, a
subsidised accommodation and
programme opportunity.
