Alpaca, intelligent beauty
Of all the precious cultural goods the Inca have brought us, the Alpaca fibre may well be the most wearable one. Soft and strong, long and shiny it is a perfect fit for luxurious garments. As a leading innovator,
Clark Ross has perfected the manufacturing of this rare camel-fibre from the Peruvian Andes. Because the
single fur can exhibit a broad range of colours from beige and brown to charcoal and black, it is carefully
sorted by hand. Four steps are required, traditionally performed by specially skilled women. Only the very
best colours, vintages and qualities come back to life in a garment by Clark Ross. Mainly, Clark Ross utilizes
so called “Baby Alpaca” which o
riginates from the first shearing of the young animals and is especially
fine and soft.
Some fibres offer more than others. Alpaca surpasses them all. Extremely thin but also very robust, it is
well suited for industrial processing. Because of microscopically small air pockets within the fibre, the
resulting clothes are light and have thermal properties that cool the skin when it’s hot an warm it when
it’s cold. Alpaca is seven times warmer than wool, three times as r obust, flame- and break-resistant with
very little tendency to “pilling”. An it just absorbs humidity from 10-15%.
Alpaca also has a good memory: When the fibre is bent, it always returns to its initial state. Alpaca
is heavenly soft, with a unique natural shine and comes in 27 colours, 7 of which are perfectly pure. It´s
perfectly reasonable to fall for Alpaca. And it feels so good.

Weil das einzelne Tierfell ein großes Farbenspektrum von Weiß über Beige und Braun zu Anthrazit und Schwarz
aufweisen kann, wird es sorgfältig von Hand selektiert.
Vier Arbeitsgänge, ausgeführt von seit Generationen darauf spezialisierten Fachfrauen, sind erforderlich. Nur
die allerbesten Farben, Feinheiten und Jahrgänge finden sich in einem Kleidungsstück von Clark Ross wieder.
Hauptsächlich verwendet Clark Ross sogenanntes „Baby Alpaca“, das aus der ersten Schur der jungen Alpacas
stammt und ganz besonders fein und weich ist. Manche Faser hat mehr zu bieten als andere. Alpaca gelingt
es, alle zu übertreffen. Mit inneren wie äußeren Werten. Extrem fein und ebenso robust, eignet sich Alpaca besonders gut für die industrielle Weiterverarbeitung. Aufgrund von mikroskopisch kleinen Luft-Einschüssen kann
daraus Kleidung erstellt werden, die nicht nur sehr leicht ist, sondern auch thermische Eigenschaften besitzt,
die bei Kälte wärmen und bei Hitze kühlend wirken.
Alpaca ist siebenmal wärmer als Wolle, dreimal so widerstandsfähig, schwer entflammbar und bruchsicher, mit
sehr geringer Tendenz zum „Pilling“. Darüber hinaus kann diese intelligente Schönheit Umgebungsfeuchtigkeit
von 10-15% einfach absorbieren. Ein gutes Gedächtnis hat Alpaca auch: Wenn die Faser geknickt wird, kehrt
sie immer in ihren Ursprungszustand zurück. Alpaca ist himmlisch weich, mit einem einzigartigen natürlichen
Glanz und bietet eine Auswahl aus 27 Farbtönen, von denen 7 ganz rein sind. Bei aller Vernunft, die für eine
Liaison mit Alpaca spricht, entscheidet eben letztlich doch das Gefühl.
