Judge Brian Patrick Duggan – USA
Brian Patrick Duggan, M.A. is the award-winning author of Saluki: The Desert Hound and the English
Travelers Who Brought It to the West – the result of over 14 years of research in archives, museums, and
libraries in three countries.
Together with his wife, Wendy, they have had Salukis for over 36 years under the Kyzyl Kum prefix with
81 owned and/or bred, 35 show champions, and several grand champions to their credit. He and Wendy
were honored with the American Saluki Association’s Top Breeder Award for 1994.
Brian has judged Salukis in America, Australia, Canada, England, Finland, New Zealand and Norway,
and is provisional for Irish Wolfhounds. He has been a hunt-master for open field coursing meets, participated in lure coursing, obedience, and has held offices in the Saluki Club of America, the American
Saluki Association, and the Saluki Club of Greater San Francisco. In addition to being the American Kennel Club Gazette Saluki breed columnist, he also writes about the history of sighthounds for other magazines. Brian has a bachelor’s degree in Theater (Film Production) and
a master’s degree in Education. He has worked at universities for over
30 years and is currently the Director of Learning Services at California
State University, Stanislaus. He has presented his Saluki research at
international conferences and is now working on a book about the
hunting sighthounds of the U.S. Army officers in the American West.

14 Jahren Forschungsarbeit in Archiven, Museen und Büchereien
in 3 verschiedenen Ländern.
Mit seiner Frau Wendy züchtet er seit über 36 Jahren Salukis unter
dem Zwingernamen Kyzyl Kum. 81 Salukis, nicht alle im Besitz
des Zwingers, sind bisher daraus hervorgegangen, 35 wurden Show
Champions und etliche haben auch den Grand Champion Titel gewonnen.
1994 wurden Wendy u. Brian mit dem American Saluki Associations’s Top Züchter Preis ausgezeichnet.
Brian hat Salukis in Amerika, Australien, Canada, England, Finnland, Neuseeland und Norwegen gerichtet und ist dabei, seine Richterlizenz auf Irish Wolfshounds zu erweitern. Er ist Hunt-Master für Open
Field Coursing, hat an Lure Coursing und Obedience Veranstaltungen teilgenommen. Brian hat Seminare
beim Saluki Club of America, der American Saluki Association und dem Saluki Club of Greater San
Francisco gehalten. Außerdem ist er der Rassekolumnist für die American Kennel Club Gazette. Brian
schreibt auch über die Geschichte der Windhunde für andere Magazine.
Brian hat einen Bachelorgrad in Theater (Film Production) und ein Mastergrad in Ausbildung/Erziehung.
Er hat seit mehr als 30 Jahren an Universitäten gearbeitet und ist momentan der Director of Learning
Services der California State University, Stanislaus.
Bei internationalen Konferenzen hat Brian seine Saluki Forschungen vorgestellt und arbeitet gerade an
einem Buch über jagende Windhunde der U.S. Army officers im amerikanischen Westen.
