Is Attic Greek !έν (mén)
a Wackernagel's Law particle?
In this talk the seemingly simple question will be asked whether the syntax of Attic Greek !έν (mén) is relevant to the empirical assessment of the
validity of Wackernagel's Law. It turns out that attempting to answer
this question opens up a wealth of unpleasant complications, consideration of which allows for a richer understanding of clitic syntax in Attic
Greek, and in Archaic IE languages (and other human languages) more
generally.
