①限定用法：名詞を修飾（限定）

②叙述用法：名詞を説明（補語になる）
Your dog is pretty.

＜限定用法のみの形容詞＞
main / daily / wooden / live（生きた）
＜叙述用法のみの形容詞＞
afraid / alive / ashamed / asleep / content（満足して）/ ill / well（健康な）
＜限定用法と叙述用法とで意味の異なる形容詞＞
able ：限有能な / 叙できる
certain：限ある
/ 叙確かである

present：限現在の / 叙出席している
例）the number of the present members：出席者の数

＜叙述用法の特別な用法＞
本来、名詞を修飾することはないのですが、名詞の直後に置くことによって名
詞を叙述用法の意味のままで修飾することができます。
the present members：現在のメンバー（present は限定用法）
the members present：出席者（present は叙述用法の意味）
【人のみを主語にとる形容詞】
able / glad / reluctant / sorry / kind
【人は主語にとれない形容詞】
convenient / difficult / necessary / possible / probable
＊It is difficult to speak to him.⇒He is difficult to speak to.に注意
【ly 形容詞】
timely：時を得た
lively：活発な
【多義語】
the last：最後の / 少しも～しそうもない
the latest：もっとも遅い / 最新の
free：自由である / 無料である / 免れている
