Akita International University receives donations to support
international students who want to study at AIU, to provide
financial aid to local students, and to carry out research
activities. A donation to AIU is deemed a donation to a public
university corporation, so tax benefits apply. Corporate
donors may write off donations as losses or deductions from
individual earnings.

Akita International University every year to observe and tour the

From September, 2010 to March 2011, AIU formed new exchange
agreements with 9 institutions all over the world, expanding its global
network to 118 institutions in 35 countries and regions.

Teaching American Sociology to the Community in English / 社会人を対象に、アメリカ社会の講義を英語で
A public lecture series, "Learn about the U.S. in English,"
by AIU lecturer Takeshi Akiba was held at the Consortium of
Universities in Akita on Dec. 4, 11, and 18. The consortium
offers courses by college faculty to the general public. This
was a unique attempt at providing lectures in English at this
venue.
A diverse audience gathered, including high school teachers, university staff, business people with international experience, and people involved in international activities. The
lectures covered race relations in the U.S., the difference in
political systems between the U.S. and Japan, and JapanU.S. relations.
Participants showed great interest in the lectures,
suggesting that there is a broad public demand for learning
AIU-style: in English with interaction among students and
between students and faculty.
12月4日・11日・18日、大学コンソーシアムあきたで本学の秋葉丈
志講師による社会人講座「英語で学んでみるアメリカ社会」が開かれ
ました。同コンソーシアムは、秋田県の大学が連携して公開講座を提供
しています。今回は社会人を対象に英語で講義を行う初めての試みで
した。高校教員、大学職員、会社員、国際交流団体関係者など幅広い参
加者が集まりました。
第1回はアメリカ社会（人種問題）、第2回はアメリカ政治、第3回は
日米関係について、グループディスカッションを交えながら講義が行わ
れました。参加者からは「もっと勉強する意欲が湧いてきました。内容
が充実していておもしろかった」と好意的な反応が寄せられました。英
語で学ぶ教養大の授業を体験したい人は多いようです。

On August 27, 2010, Akita International University formed
a partnership agreement with Akita Bank. Using their
combined intellectual and human resources and information
networks, they will contribute to the community by holding
lectures and seminars, as well as improving communication
between AIU’
s students, faculty and staff, and the employees of local corporations.
2010年8月27日、株式会社秋田銀行と国際教養大学は、相互の連
携を強化し、地域社会への貢献を実現するため、連携協力協定を締結
しました。それぞれが有する知的・人材資源、情報ネットワーク等を相互
に提供し融合することによって、地域経済の活性化と社会の発展に貢
献することを目的として、講演会、セミナーなどの開催や、教員及び学
生と県内企業との人材交流などを行なっていく予定です。
