「Global Retail Sales of Organic Cotton Products has seen volume grow consistently. Successful companies
accomplish this through good business models and communication within the supply chain. We have seen
several key programs that were not able to expand as planned because a strong supply chain strategy was not
in place. Mills have told us that they have worked through surplus inventories and they do not purchase organic
cotton unless it is planned. The current market situation emphasizes the need for an organic cotton strategy for
companies to meet their growth plans.」

The organic cotton market value increased by 67% this year bringing the estimated value to USD15.7bn. 57
companies participated in TE’s market survey this year (a growth of 152%). The majority, 44%, are
headquartered in Europe, 31.5% in the USA, 14% in the UK and the remaining (10.5%) in Canada, Japan,
Australia, NZ, and South Africa. The breakdown of companies by category is 81% Apparel, 14% Home-ware,
and 5% Footwear .
OCS & GOTS Certified Facilities は 22%増加。

In 2014 3663 facilities were certified for 1814 licensees which
again is the highest number since the launch of the program
(following 3085 certified facilities for 1783 licensees in 2013).
An explanation for the significant increase of more than 18% in
certified facilities while there was only a moderate increase in
licensees is that licensees worldwide get more orders and more
diverse orders for GOTS, so they applied certification for more
production lines, processors and manufacturers. Especially in
Central Europe the demand for GOTS labelled products is
increasing, accordingly more and more importers and traders
apply for GOTS certification.

2009/10 の 24 万トンをピークに 3 年連続して減少していたのが、2014 年には増加に転じた。

綿花年度は 2013/14 のように表示されるが、スタートは 2013 年 8 月 1 日、終わりは 2014 年 7 月 31 日を意味する。北
半球の綿花の収穫から輸出入までをカバーする期間の設定として使われる。普通、北半球では早くても収穫は 9 月か
ら、輸出入もほとんどが 6 月 7 月には終わるのでこの設定が便利。在庫は一番少ないタイミングとなる。
