Micro-Nano Structures Assembly by Thermoresponsive Gel Probe

In this research, the probe device named “Thermoresponsive Gel (GeT) probe” we developed was applied
to manipulate biological cells. The probe can handle micro objects using thermoresponsive gel generated on
the probe tip. The cell viability was evaluated after handling cell spheroids by the probe inside
thermoresponsive polymer solution. The mouse myoblast C2C12 cells and mouse fibroblast NIH3T3 cells were
used to form cell spheroids. The evaluation results shows that more than 90 % cells were kept in live
condition after handling by the probe. The assembly of multiple spheroids by the probe was also conducted
and the results validate that the developed probe can handle cells without serious damages to cells and
arbitrary pattern of cell spheroids can be constructed for tissue engineering applications.
