KEYNOTE SPEAKERS / PLENARSPRECHER
PROF. DR. DR. MULT. H.C. PETER FREESE
was Ordinary Professor of
American Studies from 1979 until
2005, and has continued teaching
American Literature and Culture
ever since. His many academic
administration positions include
Faculty Dean and “Prorektor für
Studium und Lehre”, and he was
member of the University Senate. Among many other
academic awards and civil accolades, he received honorary doctoral degrees by Lock Haven University, Pennsylvania (2000) and Dortmund University (2004). Organizer
of many public events relating to didactic issues at
regional and national scale, and author of TEFL-studies
such as New York: The Big Apple. Resource Book
(Munich 2011), he has also published numerous
outstanding interdisciplinary literary studies, such as The
Holodeck in the Garden: Science and Technology in Contemporary American Fiction (with Charles B. Harris,
Normal, Ill., 2004). He is editor of the “Viewfinder” series,
and co-editor of the American Studies Journal.
PROF. DR. WOLFGANG HALLET
Chair of Teaching English as a Foreign Language at
Justus-Liebig-University, Gießen. He is member of the
Executive Board of the GCSC (International Graduate
Centre for the Study of Culture), and member of the
editorial board of Der Fremdsprachliche Unterricht Englisch. His most recent publications include Genres im
fremdsprachlichen und bilingualen Unterricht: Formen und
Muster der sprachlichen Interaktion (Seelze 2016), and
Literaturkompetenzen Englisch: Modellierung, Curricula,
Unterrichtsbeispiele (with Carola Surkamp & Ulrich
Krämer, Seelze 2015). Together
with Carola Surkamp, he is also
co-editor of the Handbuch Dramendidaktik und Dramapädagogik
(Trier 2015). Since his seminal
contribution to CLIL-research in
1998, Content Language Integrated Learning has been one of
Prof. Hallet’s strongest research fields, with numerous
publications in refereed journals and international monographs on this topic.

Friedrich-Schiller-University, Jena, is director of the Centre
of Teacher Education and
Education Studies (“Zentrum für
Lehrerbildung und Bildungsforschung”, ZLB). With Nancy Grimm
and Michael Meyer, he has coauthored
Teaching
English
(Tübingen 2015), and is co-editor
of a book series on Teaching Contemporary Literature and Culture (two volumes each, on
“Film”, with Susanne Peters, Klaus Stierstorfer, Dirk
Vanderbeke, Trier 2013; on “Novels” and “Drama”,
respectively, with Susanne Peters and Klaus Stierstorfer,
Trier 2008 / 2006). His double-volume monograph on
Shakespeare didaktisch (with Roland Petersohn,
Tübingen 2006) has replaced Rüdiger Ahrend’s triple
UTB-volume of 1978 on this key EFL topic.

Bilingualer Sachfachunterricht/CLIL: (Keine) Zeit für die
Literaturdidaktik?
Im bilingualen Sachfachunterricht (Content Language
Integrated Learning, CLIL), der das Lehrangebot vieler
Schulen und Schulformen bereichert, tritt literarische
Bildung zugunsten einer maßgeblich sachbezogenen
Kommunikations- und Diskurskompetenz der Schülerinnen und Schüler in den Hintergrund. Damit setzt sich
die fortschreitende Pragmatisierung und Funktionalisierung der Schulbildung im Allgemeinen und der Fremdsprachenvermittlung im Besonderen fort. Das Symposium
sucht in konstruktivem Dialog mit CLIL nach synergetischen Lösungswegen, die die Ausbildung der geforderten sprachlich-pragmatischen Inhaltsorientierung Seite
an Seite mit dem Ziel einer Förderung ästhetisch-ethischer und interkultureller Kompetenzen stellt. Erstmals
kommen zu diesem Thema exzellente Fach- und Literaturdidaktiker zusammen, um die gegenwärtige Situation zu
erörtern und mittelfristige Perspektiven für weitere bildungspolitische und fachliche Debatten auszuloten.
