【解答例 1】
Nowadays, a high percentage of children who are brought to hospitals have kira-kira names. Some people
say this is because the parents of these children are irresponsible. They believe that a father who names his
daughter Pikachu does not know how to take care of her properly, and injures her or makes her sick. Other
people say that kira-kira names are a symptom of the breakdown of traditional family structures. In the
past, when young couples had a child, they received support and advice from their own parents. Today,
many couples have to make decisions about child-rearing on their own, including what name to give the
child. Personally, I believe giving children unusual names is unkind, because they are likely to be bullied by
other children at school. Japanese society is very conservative, and the nail that stands out here is always
hammered down.

【解答例 2】
In my opinion, parents shouldn’t give their children non-traditional, or kira-kira names. This is
because such non-traditional names can hurt children’s self-esteem in several ways and, if things come to
the worst, harm their development.
First, kira-kira names, which are usually hard to read for ordinary people, may embarrass those
children. When they are called in school, for example, they may be misread by their teachers.
Second, kira-kira names may lead to discrimination against children who have them. Such names are
often the same as those of famous characters in TV programs, cartoons or manga. But those names are
eccentric and the general public may take the odd names as a sign that the children themselves are strange.
In conclusion, parents should be aware that kira-kira names will cause children to suffer.
