The guest speaker is Prof. Chiko Naito (内藤知康先生) speaking on the topic of
"Contemporary Society and the Pure Land"
『現代社会と浄土』
Prof. Naito will share his knowledge and insights on the meaning of Amida Buddha’s Pure Land
for people living in contemporary society and how Pure Land Buddhist Teachings can provide
inspiration and guidance for daily living. Prof. Naito will speak in Japanese with English
interpretation provided by Rev. Henry Adams.
Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1945, Prof. Naito is a graduate of Ryukoku University and the
Jodoshinshu Hongwanji
Hongwanji-ha Shugakuin. He is Professor Emeritus of Shinshu Studies at
Ryukoku University, a member of the Hongwanji Kangaku Committee of Special
Advisorss to the Gomonshu, and Resident Minister of Kakujoji Temple in Fukui,
Japan. His published works in Japanese include, Lectures on Daochuo's Anrakushu, A
Easily Understandable Guide to the Well-known Sayings Shinran Shonin (co-written
written with
Sokusui Murakami
Murakami), Studying “Topics for Discussion Regarding the Settled Mind” and
Scripture Seminar: Shinran Shonin's "Notes on Once
