1990 年代に始まる情報環境の大きな変化によって図書館情報学における研究と教育は大きな影響
を受けてきました。2000 年代はじめに組織された iSchools は現在では 40 以上のメンバー校を含む
に至っています。Information School はグローバルな環境の中で高い認知を得るまでに育ってきま
した。その一方、それぞれの大学が置かれる地域の環境は多様です。本シンポジウムは、この 20 年
余りの間に私たちが経験してきた変化を振り返り、information school とそこに繋がるいろいろな
コミュニティの今後の発展のための議論をしたいと思います。
本シンポジウムでは、これまでの information school の発展を間近で見て、また発展に関与して
こられた先生方による講演と、それに続くオープンな議論を計画しております。
