Claire received her B.A. from Smith College and her J.D. from Cornell Law School.
She was a partner of an international law firm before she joined Itochu Corporation
as its corporate counsel. In April 2013, she became the first female executive officer
of any major trading company.
The World Economic Forum recognized her as a “Young Global Leader” in 2005.
Most recently, she has been recognized by Yale University (Yale World Fellow), the
Asia Society (Asia21 Fellow) and by the U.S.-Japan Foundation. In 2010, she was
named by Asia Legal Business as one of the top 25 in-house counsel in Asia. She is a
member of Cornell Law School’s advisory board.

士。国際法律事務所のパートナーを経て、現在、伊藤忠商事株式会社 執行役員 法務部長。
世界経済フォーラムから「若きグローバルリーダー」（2005 年）に選ばれる。2006 年には、アジ
ア・ソサイエティより「Asia 21」、Newsweek より「世界が認めた日本人女性 100 人」に選ばれる。
2007 年には、エール大学より Yale World Fellow に、2008 年には、米日財団よりフェローに選
ばれる。2008 年には世界経済フォーラム主催のハーバードケネディスクールのエグゼキュティ
ブプログラムに参加。2010 年、Asia Legal Business より、「アジアの社内弁護士 25 人」に選ば
れる。現在、コーネル・ロースクールのアドバイザリーボードメンバー。
