■Abstract■
Enjoying excellent relations at state and people's levels, Nepal and Japan share common oriental
heritage and strong adherence to ideals of peace and fraternity propounded by Lord Buddha who
was born in Nepal more than 2,500 years ago. A leading partner in Nepal's endeavors for social
and economic development, Japan has helped Nepal in a wide area encompassing poverty
alleviation, development of infrastructure, and promotion of peace and democratization of Nepalese
society. With the assumption of a new stable Government in Nepal following recent elections,
Nepal holds the potentials for attracting greater Japanese private investments for consolidating
bilateral co-operation on a win-win basis.
