How was it? When we describe an experience in English we use the word “was” to put the adjective into past tense (eg, was fun, was interesting, was difficult). However, in Japanese you actually change the adjective itself. To make past tense adjectives in Japanese (eg. was interesting, was fun), drop the last ‘i’ from the Japanese adjective and add “katta”. For example… Eg. Interesting = omoshiroi WAS interesting = omoshiro i katta omoshirokatta How was it? QUESTION: Activity は どう でした か。 How was the movie? えいが は どう でした か。 eiga wa doo deshita ka. How was it? ANSWER: Adjectiveかった です。 It was enjoyable. たのしかった です。 tanoshikatta desu.
