We ' re Going to San Francisco ! 今年は人気のある行き先を訪問するためか・・・16名の応募がありました。規定により12月9日に引率者1名が決まり、16日に抽選会をし、参加者10名が決定しましたので、紹介します。 Sixteen people applied to visit this year's popular destination. The chaperone for the trip was chosen on 12/9, and the final ten participants were selected by lottery on 12/16. While this group's stay is short, KIS is hoping to host a cultural exchange event called "Tea and Tosenkyo" on Saturday, February 28. By all means, please join us for this event. What types of exchanges were you able to do with the JICA participants this year? Try to continue these exchanges with the participants, even if they have gone home. Two of the host families contributed their memories and reflections from this year's exchange program. 今年の研修員は今までより半分の人数で寂しいと感じながらもお出迎えから帰国の途に着くお見送りまで、小坂へ来て良かったと思ってくださるよう計画を立てホストを務めました。協会の行事の他に買い物・夕食・サイクリング・温泉・散策等、気がつけば私自身一番楽しんでいました。協会の料理教室では、２人のゲスト共お国の料理を作ってくださいましたし、お茶会も侍気分で楽しまれたようです。個人的に今年初めて温泉に挑戦！お国柄、裸のお付き合いは出来ませんので足湯にお連れしたのが、随分気に入っていただいたようで、こちらも嬉しかったです。またお土産を買いたいと出かけたものの、「高い！高い！」とリストの１/３は諦めていました。反省点として対面式の日からすぐにゲストの国をもっと勉強しておくべきだったと言う事と語学をもう少し勉強した方がより一層楽しく会話が出来、意思疎通がスムーズになり眉間に皺を寄せなくて済んだのかなと思いました。サイクリングや散策中に日本文化に付いて多々聞かれうまく話せない自分に情けなさと申し訳ないと言う残念な気持ちが残りました。少し気になったのが、歓送迎会は厳かにと言うよりワイワイ楽しむ方が好まれてたのではないかと思っていたので、今年少し静かで物足りないかなと感じたのは私だけでしょうか？今年の反省点を来年には活かせるようにまたチャンスをください。参加したいと思います。ありがとうございました。 ☆NK☆ While the number of JICA participants this year was only about half that of previous years, I agreed to serve as a host friend and planned so that that the visitors would enjoy their stay and be glad that they came to Kosaka. Besides the various KIS events, my guests and I went shopping, had dinner together, went cycling, visited a hot spring bath, and took strolls around town, which to me were the most enjoyable parts of our time together. Both of my guests prepared dishes for the KIS International Food and Culture Fair, and they seemed to enjoy the Experience Japanese Culture event with the spirit of samurai warriors. Personally, I thought it would be fun to visit a hot spring with my guests this year. Since nude public bathing is not a part of my guests' cultures, I brought them to a foot bath instead. They really seemed to enjoy this, which made me happy. We also meant to buy souvenirs, but due to high prices, the two did not purchase many gifts. In reflection, after meeting the JICA participants, I wish I had researched their countries more thoroughly before hand. Had I studied English more prior to their arrival, we probably could have had more interesting conversations and understood each others' intentions without as many looks of confusion. During our outings, I was asked several questions about Japanese culture, but I could not answer them well, which was a real shame. One thing that concerned me was the JICA participants' farewell party, which I thought should have been lively and upbeat rather than serious. Am I the only one who felt that this year's farewell party was a bit of a letdown? I ask for another chance as a host friend so that my reflections can have a positive effect on future events. ☆NK☆ 8 月 17 日に来町された私たちは今まで何度かラテン系の研修員のホストフレンドをしたことがありますが、今回はラテン系とアジア圏の研修員の２名のホストフレンドになりました。対面式や歓迎会を通じて２人がスポーツ好きだということがわかり、フットサルチームを紹介してもらい、練習をともにして汗を流したようです。ホストフレンドとその家族も参加しての、大人数でのボーリングも楽しんでもらえたようです。また毛馬内盆踊りの見学や茶道の体験をし、日本の伝統文化を感じてもらえたのではないかと思っています。今回、Eメールを多く使用することにより希望を訊いたり誘ったりと、コミュニケーションを図ることができたと感じています。これまでは離町前の挨拶くらいでしか使うことがありませんでしたが、ツールとして有効だと思いました。送別会では人数の割には会場が広すぎたようで、かえってさびしい感じがしました。また空手は歓迎会の時もあったので、素晴らしいものではありましたが、２度はなくてもよかったのではないかなと・・・個人的には１０月から事情により積極的な参加がかなわなくなりましたが、その分他のメンバーがカバーしてくれました。研修員の日常のこまごましたことにも気を配ってくれて感謝しています。 ☆RY☆ We had hosted visitors from South America and Latin America several times before, but this year we served as host friends for JICA participants from both South America and Asia. We learned that our guests were sports fans during both our first meeting with them and the KIS welcome party. We introduced them to an indoor soccer team, with whom they practiced hard. The JICA participants also joined us and our families for a night of bowling, which they seemed to enjoy very much. In addition, we watched the Kemanai Bon Odori and participated in a tea ceremony. We wondered if the visitors were able to truly feel the traditional culture of Japan from these events. We feel we were able to listen to the JICA participants' requests, invite them to various events, and communicate well with each other due to frequent e-mail exchanges. Until this year, we had only done this prior to the visitors' return home, but we thought that it really made a difference. For the number of people present at the JICA participants' farewell party, we felt that the venue was too large and that the event had a lonely feel to it. While the karate demonstration was impressive, the group also made an appearance at the JICA participants' welcome party, and we thought that perhaps two times was not necessary. For personal reasons, from October onward I was not able to participate in the host friend program as enthusiastically as I would have liked, but other KIS members covered for me during that time. I truly appreciate that they looked out for the JICA participants and the details of their daily lives. ☆RY☆ ＫＩＳでは夏期３か月滞在されたＪＩＣＡ研修員のみなさんに対する、家庭交流プログラム（ホストファミリー･フレンド）を今年も実施いたしました。皆様には多大なご協力をいただきありがとうございました。ＪＩＣＡ研修員のみなさんにこのプログラムがどうだったかアンケートをとり、結果を集計しましたのでご覧ください。感謝のことばをたくさんいただきましたが、今後考えていくべき事柄も出されています、次回に活かして行きたいものです。 This year KIS once again had a host friend program for JICA's three-month summer program participants. Many thanks to those who helped with this program. The JICA participants completed a survey about their host friends. We have collected these results and placed them here. Please have a look. While we received many words of appreciation, there are also many things to consider for the future, which we hope to incorporate starting next year. １．家庭交流プログラムはいい事業だと思いますか。 ☆ はい（全員）２．ホストファミリー/フレンドと何か交流を持ちましたか。 ☆ はい（全員）どんなことを一緒にしましたか。 ☆ ボーリング、プリクラ、おもち作り、外食、贈り物交換、茶道、公園・お寺・温泉、お祭り、日本料理、歴史的な場所の見学、文化について話し合った、など。３．ホストファミリー/フレンドといっしょにしたかった事は何ですか。 ☆ もっとホストファミリーから日本語と日本文化について学びたかった。 ☆ ホストファミリーと一緒にできることは全部やってもらったと思っている、すべてについて感謝しています。 ☆ 観光・文化の交流・日本の起源や歴史的な事について説明してもらいたかった。 ☆ その他。４．この事業についてのご意見や印象、要望などご自由にお書きください。 ☆ この事業はまるで日本文化への開け放たれた扉のように素晴らしいものです。ほとんどの研修員は外で会うだけでホストファミリーの実際の家庭に行くチャンスがありませんでした。将来ホストが家庭と外とを取り混ぜたならばよくなることでしょう。 ☆ 素晴らしいホストファミリーでそのご親切と時間を共有してくださったことを感謝します。またいつか会いたいです。 ☆ この事業はとても独創的で友好的なものであり、今後も続けていってもらいたい。 ☆ 心からホストファミリーには感謝の意を表します。すべてにおいてとても幸せでした。心の中にこれらの友人を留めておくでしょう。 ☆ その他。１．Do you think the Host Friend Program is a good program? ☆ Yes （All Participants）２．Have you had any exchanges with your host friend/family? ☆ Yes （All Participants） What sort of things have you done with them? ☆ Bowling, print club, toy-making, dining out, gift exchange, tea ceremony, park・Buddhist temple・hot spring ・historical site visits, eating Japanese food, festivals, cultural discussions, etc. ３．What things did you want to do with your host friend/family? ☆ I wanted to learn more about Japanese language and culture. ☆ I think anything because they offered us many things. I am very delighted for all the things they shared and gave us during our stay. ☆ Sightseeing, cultural exchange, teaching and explanations of both ordinary and historical Japanese life. ４．Please write freely your opinions, impressions, and requests concerning this program. ☆ The family exchange program is excellent as it opens doors to Japanese culture. Most participants were taken to public places only and had no opportunity to visit host families' actual houses. In the future, it would be good if our hosts mixed the home and outings. ☆ I had a nice host family. Thank you for your kindness and your time shared with us. I hope we'll meet again. ☆ I think this program is very original and very friendly. I hope with all my heart that KIS continues this program and finds it successful. ☆ I would like to express my thanks to my host family for everything, and I am very happy for the opportunity to have friends in Japan. I hope to keep these friends in my heart.
