The Chiba Station Liaison Office is Moving
What:
The Chiba Station Liaison Office will be moving to the plaza in front of
the East Gate of the JR Chiba Station on Tuesday, March 23, in order to
accommodate the reconstruction of the Chiba Station building. The hours
and services provided will not change.
※
The Chiba Station Liaison Office issues copies of the following IDs: Proof of Residence
Registration, Proof of Personal Seal Registration, Proof of Alien Registration, copies of
the Whole or Part of the Family Register, copies of Resident Registration based on
Family Registration, Identification Cards, etc.
Hours:
Mon. – Fri. from 8:30 to 19:00 (Issuances after 17:30 require an
appointment before 17:30 on the day the of pick-up).
Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00. (Issuances of Family Registration related
documents must be requested by 17:30 on the day prior).

Employment and Independence Support for Single Mothers
Support Center for the Employment and Independence of Single Mothers
 In order to support the employment and independence of mothers in single parent
households, the center, in conjunction with the Hello Work Employment Center, has
arranged for professional employment consultations twice a week for those receiving
dependent child benefits.
Weekend and Evening Phone Counseling for Single Parents

Subsidies Awarded for the Enrollment in Courses or Acquirement of Professional Qualifications
 Subsidies are awarded when a single mother enrolls in courses to increase her

employability, or undergoes training to acquire professional qualifications.
① Independence Support Educational Training Subsidies
 A partial subsidy of tuition will be awarded if an individual who does not qualify to
receive aid for educational training under employment insurance enrolls in and
completes an educational training course specified by the city.
Subsidy Amount: 20% of tuition (Min: ¥4,000, Max: ¥100,000)
② Benefits for the Promotion of High Skill Training
 If an individual enters training for over two years at a facility to acquire professional
qualifications in areas including nursing, assistant nursing, welfare caretaking,
childcare, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or dental health, subsidies to
support livelihood stability will be awarded for the duration of the course.
Target:
Those who enter a training facility by March 31, 2012
Subsidy Amount: a) ¥70,500 per month (households required to paying municipal taxes
and who enrolled in a facility after April 2008)
b) ¥141,000 per month (all other households)
③ Lump-sum Payment Upon Completion of a Continued Education Course
 A one-time payment will be awarded to those who completed a two-year or longer
course in the fields mentioned in part ②.
Target:
Those who enrolled in a training facility after April 2008
Subsidy Amount: a) ¥25,000 (households required to paying municipal taxes)
b) ¥50,000 (all other households)
※ There are restrictions including income.
In addition, prior consultation and

３月中に手続きをオートバイ・軽自動車の廃車・名義変更
File All Paperwork for Motorcycle (125 to 250 cc) and Kei Car Scrapping or
Change of Ownership by the End of March
 Taxes on kei cars, or lightweight automobiles (125 to 250cc) are due every April 1.
 If you happened to scrap or sell your vehicle between April 1 of last year and now,
please submit the appropriate paperwork (notification of scrapping or change of name
to the current owner) by the end of March.
 Tax notices will be distributed for the next fiscal period to those who do not submit any
paperwork during this period.
 For those who moved and own a license plate from a different city, ward, village or
town, please have your license plate changed.
 For more information regarding the Reduced Tax System for Kei Car Owners, please
contact your local ward office’s taxation section.
※Tax notifications for fiscal 2010 will be sent out on Monday, May 10.

Be Sure to Equip Your Home with a Fire Alarm and Fire Extinguisher!

The Chiba City Disaster Prevention Corporation is selling Fire Alarms and Fire
Extinguishers for household use. A new law has mandated the installation of fire
alarms in each home’s bedrooms, stairwells, and kitchens. If you do not have the
necessary equipment installed, please do so as soon as possible. The Disaster
Prevention Corporation is selling fire alarms for ¥4,800 and Fire extinguishers for
¥5,000 each. If you would like to have these items sent to you, shipping charges will
also apply. To order, please call the number listed below.
Please beware of door-to-door salesmen selling these items at inflated costs. The Chiba
City Disaster Prevention Corporation does not make home visits. If you suspect that
someone is trying a scam, firmly refuse to purchase anything.

Please Bring your Paper Recyclables to the Paper Collection Sites
What:
The City is collecting paper recyclables at several sites for those who are unable
to dispose of their paper recyclables on time or at their residences. Please call the
most convenient site (list online) in advance and bring your recyclables directly.
The service is free of charge for those living or working in Chiba City.
When:
Disposals can be made between Monday and Friday, from 9:00 to 12:00
and from 13:00 to 17:00. Sites are closed on Sundays, Holidays, and the
New Year holidays.
Note:
Paper Recyclable are divided into categories, including newspapers,
magazines, pamphlets, cardboard, paper packages, etc. Please divide
your garbage into the categories and tie them into separate bundles.

What:
Vaccinations are no longer limited in order of preference. Anybody who
wishes to receive a vaccine against the new H1N1 Influenza virus will be
able to do so by consulting a doctor at your nearest medical institution.
Those receiving financial assistance from the City or those who are
exempt from municipal taxes may be eligible to have their vaccination
fees waived.

Make Use of the Daycare Moms Program
What:
Children between the ages of three months and three years of age may be
enrolled in the Daycare Moms Program, a system that allows mothers
who are child care specialists to look after enrolled children in their own
home. Please feel free to enroll your child today.
Criteria:
The child to be enrolled must be between three months and three years of
age and be a registered resident of Chiba City. The child’s guardian and
housemates must be able to prove the necessity of daycare services (for
work, health, or other reasons).
When:
Four days a week or more (Monday through Saturday only) for five hours
or more between 8:00 and 17:00. For more than five hours of care per day,
please discuss a schedule with the Daycare Mom first.
Fee:
¥38,380 per month, per child. This is 70% of the cost of regular daycare
services. Extended hours for care and costs for food are separate.
Children may bring their own lunches.

Seeking Applicants for Enrollment for the 2010 Children’s Room Program
What:
The Children’s Room Program provides a safe, productive environment
during the afternoon and after-school for children. The program is
seeking applicants for the 2010-11 year. For specific information on
where each room is located, see the website below.
When:
Thursday, April 1, 2010 through Thursday, March 31, 2011. Application
periods are between the 16th day, two months prior and the 15th day, one
month prior to when you want your child to begin attending. You will be
informed if enrollment is possible approximately 10 days after you apply.
Eligibility:
The child must live in Chiba City and be a first - third grader. The child’s
guardian must be unable to care for the child for work, health, or other reasons.
Apply:
Obtain a copy of the “Children’s Room Information” guide and fill out the
attached forms. Submit the to the Health and Welfare Center’s Health

※The schedules for classes are subject to change and may be cancelled depending on
circumstances. Please prepare the equipment needed for each class on your own (not
including kids classes). Participation fees are non-refundable and some facilities charge a
fee for parking. “Continuing entry level” indicates a basic understanding of the rules of
play and the ability to complete a basic volley.
Eligibility:
Applicants must reside, work, or study in Chiba City and be in good health.
You may only enroll in one class, multiple applications not accepted.

facility that the class will be held at by Monday, March 15. If there are
more applicants than spots available, preference will be given to

In commemoration of reaching 1,000,000 visitors, the Aqua Rink Chiba
will be waiving admission costs for visitors.

Note:
Entrance fees for the skating rink and pool areas will be waived, but
rentals for skates, etc. will still cost money. When inside the skate rink,
