Inside of the KEK Tsukuba Campus (KEKつくばキャンパス内)
Please direct all of your first emergency call to the "Information Center“(Ext. 3399).
あらゆる緊急時の第１次連絡先は、インフォメーションセンター（内線3399）です。
■ Injury, Sickness
ケガ、急病時は？
Contact the Information Center (Extension 3399). Report if the ambulance
crew will have to step into the radiation controlled area or not.
In case of an incident within a radiation controlled area, call the Radiation
Controllerʻs Office (Extension 3500), also. If urgent, you may directly call 119
▶ Report the location, name, situation of the injury or sickness.
When you directly call 119, always report to the Information Center (Extension 3399).
This is needed for personnel from the Information Center to escort the ambulance crew.
インフォメーションセンター(内線3399)に連絡。連絡にあたっては、『放射線管理区域内・外の別』も伝達すること。放射線
管理区域内事象のときは、放射線管理室（内線：3500）にも連絡すること。
急を要する場合は119番へ直接連絡。 ▶ 場所、⽒名、ケガ、病気の状況を伝える。 119番に直接連絡した場合は、
インフォメーションセンター(内線 : 3399)にも必ず通報する。
■Fire, Explosion ⽕災・爆発
1. When a fire alarm goes off
Check the source of the fire and immediately report (even if it is a false alarm)
to the Information Center (Extension 3399).
▶ Location, situation, your name, your extension or PHS number
2. In case of fire or explosion, or if they seem imminent
Loudly warn the colleagues around you, set off the fire alarm in the neighborhood, and report to
the Information Center (Extension 3399).
▶ Location（report if the fire occurred within a radiation controlled area or not）、situation,
your name and your extension or PHS number
1. ⽕災報知器が鳴ったら
警報を聞いた⼈は、⽕元を確認し状況(誤報の場合も)を直ちにインフォメーションセンター(内線 3399)に連絡。
▶ 場所、状況、⽒名、内線番号⼜はPHS番号を伝える
2. ⽕災・爆発が起きたら、⼜はその危険が切迫したら
発⾒者(⼜は当事者)は、⼤声で附近の⼈に知らせるとともに最寄りの⽕災報知器を鳴らし、直ちにインフォメーションセンター
(内線 3399)に連絡。 ▶ 場所(『放射線管理区域内・外の別』を含む)、状況、⽒名、内線番号⼜はPHS番号を伝える
■ Earthquake 地震の時
1. When you feel strong shaking
●Ensure your safety first. Hide underneath something sturdy such as a desk and
protect yourself from falling objects. Do not jump out of the building right away.
●Fragments of glass and blocks of concrete may be falling. Before going outside,
cover your head with safety hats etc. then evacuate.
●Quickly turn off the sources of fire, such as gas valves. If necessary, put off the
fire with a fire extinguisher, etc.
●If you happen to be outside of buildings, stay in an open space. Do not come close to building
walls or pillars.
●Avoid using automobiles, in case of a major earthquake with significant damage.
●In case of an earthquake with seismic intensity larger than 4, an emergency annoucement will
be broadcast in the lab. If you are aware of damages or injuries, quickly report to the
Information Center (Extension 3399).
2. Evacuate to designated evacuation areas. Confirm temporary refuges beforehand.
1. 強い揺れを感じたら
●強い揺れを感じたら、あわてて屋外に⾶び出さず、先ずは⾝の安全を確保する。机の下など丈夫なもののかげに⾝をかくし、
落下物から⾝を守る。●屋外は、ガラスの破⽚、コンクリート塊等が落下するおそれがある。屋外に出る場合は、揺れが収まっ
てからヘルメット等で頭を保護して避難する。●ガスの元栓を閉めるなどの⽕の始末を素早く⾏い、出⽕を防ぐ。出⽕した場合
は消⽕器等で直ちに消⽕する。●屋外で地震にあったときは、建物やブロック壁、⽯柱等に近寄らないこと。●地震で⼤きな
災害が⽣じたときには、⾃動⾞を使⽤しないこと。●震度4以上の地震が⽣じた場合、被害や負傷者の有無を確認するため
の⾮常放送が流れるので、被害や負傷者が出た場合はインフォメーションセンター(内線 : 3399)に連絡すること。

Moving in, National Health Insurance
転⼊届け、国⺠健康保険
Moving in 転⼊届け
Foreign residents who are eligible to receive a Residence Card need to do a
procedure of notice of “Moving-in Notification” at the Tsukuba City Hall (Shimin-ka),
when deciding on a new address. A notification of “Moving-in Notification” must be
made within 14 days. Please bring your Residence Card and Passport.

※Between 17:15 and 20:00 is correspondence only for Japanese.
在留カードの交付を空港等で受けた⽅は、住居地を定めてから14⽇以内に在留カードを持参の上、つく

National Health Insurance 国⺠健康保険
For foreign citizen who has resident status for more than 1 year and do not have any other
medical insurance plan. It is necessary to apply for the National Health Insurance at a
different counter at the same time to perform a notice of “Moving-in Notification” in Tsukuba
City Hall. The article which is necessary at the time of application is a residence card and
application document. The KEK Users Office has it.
You should fill it in Japanese beforehand.
“Kokumin-kenko-hoken-ka” 国⺠健康保険課 (Tsukuba City Hall 1st floor #7)
Business hours : 8:30 am – 17:15 (Monday – Friday)
1年以上の在留資格を持っている⽅は、つくば市役所で転⼊届を⾏うと同時に国⺠健康保険課で国⺠
健康保険の申請をする必要があります。申請時に必要な物は、在留カードと申請書類です。申請書は
KEKユーザーズ・オフィスにありますので事前に⽇本語で記⼊していくと良いでしょう

■ Procedure
1.Tell them 「Apply for National Health Insurance」at the General reception ”so-go-uketsuke”
「総合受付」, get an Application form and Reception number. You fill in a National Health
Insurance Application form.
2. When your number is called from the counter (1 - 9th Reception desk), you go to there.
3. Get a National Health Insurance card.
■⼿続きの⼿順
1.7番横の総合受付で「国⺠健康保険の⼿続き」と伝え、申請書と番号札を受取る。
2. 記載台で申請書に記載し窓⼝から呼ばれるまで待ちます。
3. 呼ばれた番号の窓⼝(#4-9)に国⺠健康保険新規申請書を提出、カードを受取り⼿続き完了。

Tsukuba Sta. – Akihabara Sta.(Tokyo) つくば駅ー秋葉原（東京）
The Tsukuba Express (TX) operates between Akihabara Station(Tokyo) and Tsukuba
Station. There is the TX Tsukuba Station underground. Please appear in the Tsukuba
bus terminal from exit A3. The fare is 1,190 yen.
TX offers three types of service: Rapid, Semi-Rapid, and Local. Each stops at a
different set of stations. Make sure to board the train that stops at your destination.
Rapid connects Akihabara and Tsukuba in as little as 45 minutes, and makes seven
stops in between. Semi-Rapid makes the trip in about 52 minutes, with 14 stops in
between. Local takes about 57 minutes and stops at every station.
つくばエクスプレスは秋葉原駅（東京）とつくば駅間を運⾏しています。
つくばエクスプレスは３タイプの電⾞が運⾏しています。所要時間や停⾞する駅が違いますので乗⾞前にご確

■Tsuku-bus:Tsukuba city‘s community bus called Tsuku-bus (Hokubu-Shuttle-bus
route ) stops at the bus-stop in front of KEK. There are three bus stops form
Tsukuba Center bus terminal to KEK (Koh-eh-nel-ghi ken-cue-kikoh) bus stop.
The fare is 300 yen.
■Kantetsu Bus:Kantetsu buses also depart from Tsukuba Center to KEK (Koh-eh-nelghi ken-cue-kikoh), they are for “Technopark Oho”, and for “Shimotsuma Station”
(shi-mo-tsu-ma-eh-ki). The fare is 440 yen.
■Taxi:When you take a Taxi from Tsukuba Center, fare will be about
3,000yen.

Tax 税⾦
People who live in Japan for more than one year, even when they are foreigners,
are required to pay taxes in the same way as Japanese nationals, if they have a
certain level of income (earnings). First of all, learn about how taxes work in
Japan.
Japanese taxes can be broadly divided into two types: national taxes which are
paid to the state, and local taxes which are paid to the prefecture or municipality.
The most representative national tax is income tax; the most representative local
taxes are local inhabitants tax and motor vehicle tax.
Generally income tax is automatically deducted from one’s salary every month
and total amount of annual income tax is adjusted at the end of the year. This
year-end tax adjustment is called “nenmatsu-chosei” and usually performed by
one’s employer.
1年以上⽇本に住んでいる⼈は、外国籍の⼈であっても⼀定の所得があれば、⽇本⼈と同じように税
⾦を納める義務があります。
⽇本の税⾦は⼤きく分けて国に納める国税と、都道府県・市区町村に納める地⽅税があります。通
常、毎⽉⽀払われる給料などの所得から所得税が差し引かれ、その年の最後に「年末調整」で１年
分の税⾦が清算されます。

On closing a Bank account, you will be requested to present your Residence
Card, Bankbook, Cash Card and "Inkan" (If you used a Inkan, when you open a
bank account)
Joyo Bank cannot do the account cancellation of a contract in the agent.
Post office can do the account cancellation of a contract of the agent. But a letter
of proxy, a bankbook, the copy of the Residence Card are necessary.
帰国前に本⼈が開設した⼝座を解約してください。解約時には、在留カード、通帳、キャッシュカード、
印鑑（もし開設時に印鑑を使⽤した場合）を持参してください。
常陽銀⾏は、代理⼈での⼝座解約はできません。郵便局は, 代理⼈での⼝座解約ができます。但し、
委任状、通帳、在留カードのコピーが必要です。

procedure of notice of “Moving-out Notification” at the Tsukuba City Hall
(Shimin-ka), Please bring your Residence Card.

For long term stayers
If you are planning to stay in Japan for several months or longer, it would be great convenience for
you to open a bank account in a Local Bank or Japan Post Bank . Many services, including money
transfer, foreign currency exchange and access to banking machines, will be provided with the bank
Please note that salary and travel expenses from KEK are paid through transfer to your bank account.
Banking hours are from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cash withdrawal is available through
banking machines (ATM), until 6:00 pm at Oho Post Office and inside of KEK.

Opening a bank account with Japan Post Bank is necessary for receiving your government scholarship.
In addition, you can withdraw your money with ATM at any post offices in Japan with this account.
You must prepare these documents/items for opening a Japan Post Bank account:
