Festival organised by Fondazione Sambuca
Poetical politics is a festival of contemporary art curated by Paolo Falcone, to be held in Palermo at Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, organised by Fondazione Sambuca for “Cantieri del Contemporaneo”, a long term festival created by Giuseppe Marsala and promoted by the Department for Culture of the City of Palermo. Poetical politics involves fifteen among the most important artists in the international
scene: Ai Weiwei, Alis/Filliol, Allora & Calzadilla, Guy Ben-Ner, Rossella Biscotti,
Regina Josè Galindo, Hiwa K, William Kentridge, Marzia Migliora, Walid Raad,
Shobha, Georgina Starr, Stefanos Tsivopulos, Luca Vitone, Apichatpong
Weerasethakul and Stefania Galegati Shines first prewiew of the new film shooted in
Palermo.
The artwork were laid out following an itinerary in a constallation of different spaces
as the Cinema De Seta, CSC/Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental
Center of Cinematography), Sala Perriera, Tre Navate and Vuoto 14, to build, over a
three day festival (November 14-15-16), a programme that changes daily to define different elements to trace poetical politics. Poetical politics intends to provide a specific fragment, a perspective of the different artistic researches over the past ten years, where the artists feature videos as a transformative potential art medium to represent social inequalities and conflicts in contemporary society. Poetical politics, therefore, becomes a metaphor, a narrative texture, through the
interconnection of a series of artworks that have specific and innovative becoming
well-defined meanings, brought to Palermo to offer a new vision, an opportunity to
observe elements and values of contemporary society, reflecting on contemporary geopolitics. Poetical politics does not intend to focus its attention on political analysis, but to
define different visions that represent areas of political tensions. A poetical
platform to build a symbolic dimension of social conscience.
