April 2014 XI CANTATE BARCELONA 2014 International Choir Festival ‐ 17‐20 OCT Dear Friends of Choral Music, Over the years, Cantate Barcelona has evolved into a widely renowned international gathering where choral groups have exhibited their musical experience, observed the style of others and made new friends. In the past edition in 2013 we have hosted choirs from the USA, Spain, Norway, Italy, Switzerland and France who spent 4 days sharing music and experiences among them. The Festival will be held in the beautiful settings of Barcelona and the Costa Brava in north‐east Spain. The location chosen for the Festival could not be more enticing; accommodation in the city of Barcelona or, not too far along the coast, on the Costa Brava (1) with the backdrop of the Mediterranean in a week‐end packed with activities. However, these are only some of the attractions th
of this Festival. The spirit of the 11 Cantate Barcelona 2014 will have a much wider meaning for choirs joining this programme: 
An open air concert in a choice venue in the city of Barcelona, a city of avant‐garde culture where choral music is widely appreciated. 
A friendship concert in which Catalan choirs host visiting choirs for an evening of musical bonding. An opportunity to sing and exchange experiences in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. A great occasion to make new friends and international contacts. 
A farewell afternoon/evening concert, at the impressive Concert Hall in Girona where all choirs are given the opportunity to sing their favourite piece. The grand finale being a coming together of all choirs singing the compulsory Festival song. 
A farewell special dinner with music and song will follow the Final Concert. 
Guided visits to Barcelona and Girona are also on the agenda in order to give you a glimpse into our history, architecture and way of life. Cantate Barcelona is open to any choir wishing to take part in and enjoy a non‐competitive Festival offering the chance to mix with choirs from different countries and make new friends. Moreover, the opportunity presents itself to learning from the musical techniques of other choirs. We, as organisers of Cantate Barcelona 2014, take great pleasure in inviting you to join us for the next edition of this international Festival.
