Welcome to Grosseto for the Italian leg of 2014
IPC Athletics Grand Prix, a pre-cursor to this
August’s European Championships in Swansea,
Great Britain.
and the continuing IPC Athletics Grand Prix will
help build momentum ahead of the Rio 2016
Paralympic Games.
Grosseto has a superb track record for staging
high quality athletics competitions, and I am
confident that the performances of athletes this
weekend will take this standard to another level.
This is an exciting time for para-athletics with
more competitions than ever before and more
athletes from around the world competing.
The hosting of this Grand Prix is a testament to
the work of the organisers, the city of Grosseto
and the national organisations who contribute
so much to the achievements of the Paralympic
Movement. I thank them for their continued
support in delivering competitions which enable
athletes to reach their best and to entertain sports
fans around the world.
Many of the athletes who compete here this
weekend are Paralympic or world medallists and
many will be competing at either Swansea 2014
or October’s Asian Para Games in Korea.
I would also like to thank Allianz, who earlier
this year were announced as IPC Athletics’ first
international partner and are supporting this
weekend’s Grand Prix here in Grosseto.
Both these events, together with next August’s
Parapan American Games in Toronto, Canada
I hope you enjoy the action over the coming days.

From 30 May to 1 June 2014 the Grosseto track
and field venue will host, once again, a three-day
sports spectacular. The IPC Athletics Grand Prix,
the biggest para-athletics circuit, is back in town
for the Italian Open Championships 2014, to
showcase the best national and international stars
in running, throwing and jumping events.
I sincerely wish that all athletes in Grosseto will
challenge once more their own limits to show
the world the high levels of performance that
have been gained by the queen of Paralympic
sports in terms of world records broken and the
extraordinary results achieved at the London
2012 Paralympic Games.
The impressive achievements of Italian athletes
in recent years are not fortuitous, but are part
of a long-term strategy of the FISPES, Italy’s
governing body for para-athletics, which has been
able to build a solid and admirable international
reputation, resulting also in the organisation of
major events such as the IPC Athletics Grand
Prix.
I wish for Sandrino Porru, FISPES President,
to carry on the exceptional work he has done
over the years and to stay among the world’s
elite of the discipline, beginning with this event.
Grosseto will witness an exponential growth of
para-athletics where talents won’t be taken for
granted, seconds or centimetres will make the
difference and performances will be measured in
world rankings.
It will be a memorable celebration for sports and
integration and Grosseto will be the stage where
all disabled athletes will be proud to perform.

Benvenuti a Grosseto per la tappa italiana del circuito IPC Athletics Grand Prix del 2014, evento
che anticipa gli Europei di atletica paralimpica
previsti in agosto a Swansea in Gran Bretagna.
Grosseto ha una storia esemplare nell’organizzazione di manifestazioni di atletica di alto livello e
sono sicuro che le prestazioni degli atleti questo
fine settimana alzeranno sempre più lo standard
competitivo. Questo è un momento felice per
l’atletica paralimpica con sempre più competizioni a disposizione e sempre più atleti di tutto il
mondo che vi partecipano.
Molti degli atleti che gareggeranno qui questo
weekend sono campioni mondiali e paralimpici
e molti tra loro parteciperanno a Swansea 2014 o
ai Giochi Parasiatici previsti in Corea del Sud il
prossimo ottobre.
Entrambe queste manifestazioni, insieme ai Giochi Parapanamericani di Toronto in Canada e
all’IPC Athletics Grand Prix sono tappe di avvicinamento importanti per i Giochi Paralimpici di
Rio del 2016.
Questo Grand Prix è un riconoscimento a tutto
il lavoro effettuato dagli organizzatori, alla città
di Grosseto e alle rappresentanze nazionali che
hanno da sempre contribuito al successo del Movimento Paralimpico. Vorrei qui ringraziarli per
il loro costante sostegno nell’organizzazione di
competizioni che consentono agli atleti di esprimersi al massimo e agli appassionati di sport di
tutto il mondo di godere di un bellissimo spettacolo.
Vorrei anche ringraziare Allianz, che dall’inizio
dell’anno è diventato primo sponsor internazionale di IPC Athletics e che ha sostenuto l’organizzazione del Grand Prix di Grosseto di questo
weekend.
Spero che vi godiate le gare dei prossimi giorni.

Il 30, 31 maggio e 1 giugno saranno di nuovo giorni di sport-spettacolo, sulla pista ovale di Grosseto. Torna in città per il secondo anno consecutivo
l’IPC Athletics Grand Prix, il circuito più grande
dell’atletica leggera paralimpica con gli Italian
Open Championships 2014, preziosa e irrinunciabile vetrina per i migliori talenti nazionali e internazionali della corsa, dei salti e lanci.
L’augurio, che rivolgo di cuore agli atleti a Grosseto, è di sfidare una volta di più il proprio limite,
mostrando al mondo quale livello di performance ha ormai raggiunto la regina delle discipline
sportive, fiore all’occhiello dello sport paralimpico quanto a record mondiali infranti e podi
paralimpici calcati agli ultimi, trionfali Giochi di
Londra.
I risultati eclatanti dell’atletica italiana degli ultimi anni non sono nati dal caso, ma sono il frutto
dell’attenta programmazione della FISPES, una
realtà che ha saputo conquistarsi una solida e invidiabile reputazione internazionale, meritando
l’assegnazione di appuntamenti prestigiosi come
il Grand Prix IPC.
Al Presidente Sandrino Porru rivolgo il mio
augurio più sentito di continuare nel solco di
quanto già fatto per continuare a restare nell’elite mondiale della disciplina, partendo da questo
prossimo evento. Grosseto sarà testimone di un
movimento in crescita vorticosa, dove il talento
si misura senza sconti, cronometro alla mano, e
le prestazioni si valutano in termini di ranking
mondiali.
Sarà una grande festa memorabile di sport ed integrazione e Grosseto rappresenterà il palcoscenico dove tutti gli atleti con disabilità vorrebbero
salire.

It is great to be back in Grosseto again and for the
second year running as part of the IPC Athletics
Grand Prix, a series of track and field meetings
that started in February in Dubai, UAE and will
climax this August in Birmingham, Great Britain.
This year’s Grand Prix will take in nine cities in
four continents and is all part of IPC Athletics’
strategy to build on the success of London
2012 by creating more high level competition
opportunities for leading athletes and developing
a long-term calendar of events. Running
alongside the annual Grand Prix series are a
number of world and regional Championships
which are now scheduled through to 2017.
This August, the European Championships will
take place in Swansea, Great Britain, whilst in
October the best Asian athletes will gather in
Incheon, South Korea for the Asian Para Games.
Doha, Qatar will stage the World Championships
in November 2015 and soon we will be
announcing the host city of the 2016 European
Championships.
By the time we all travel to Rio for the 2016
Paralympic Games, thousands of athletes will
have had the opportunity to compete in high
performance competitions. The result, I believe,
will be the best para-athletics competition ever in
Brazil in just over two years’ time.
To close, I would like to thank all the organisers
who make Grosseto one of the highlights of
para-athletics season and also Allianz, who
earlier this year became IPC Athletics’ first
international partner and are a major supporter of
this weekend’s Grand Prix.

Sport constantly challenges the individual to face
their own limits and to conquer them and move
forward. This also happens when we commit to
the promotion of new social cultures that raise
awareness of the talents of diversity existing in
all of us while pushing us to look beyond any
cultural taboo.
The Italian Open Championships 2014
in Grosseto reflect all of these aims. The
Championships are part of a long-term project
which will enable Italian Paralympic athletes
to compete with world para-athletes and set
the bar higher in terms of competition and
performance levels. This goal will massively
contribute to proper cultural and social growth
within our community, as well as emphasising
the true values of “diversity”, which identify and
celebrate abilities and talents against all forms of
discrimination and prejudice that might result in
exclusion and isolation of the individual.
These ideals are very ambitious, but I am proudly
committed to fulfilling them with the strong cooperation and relentless work of the FISPES
Family that I represent, the FIDAL, the Italian
Paralympic Committee and the International
Paralympic Committee.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to
them and to all local authorities from Tuscany,
and especially to the Municipality of Grosseto.
Special thanks go to the real key players of the
Grosseto 2014 event: the spectators, who will
hopefully come in large numbers to the Zecchini
Stadium, and the athletes who, once again, will
produce astonishing performances and exciting
emotions to set our hearts racing.
To all of them, a brotherly sports hug. Good luck,
and may the best athletes win.

È bellissimo tornare a Grosseto e, per il secondo
anno consecutivo, ritrovarla protagonista del circuito IPC Athletics Grand Prix, serie di meeting
di atletica paralimpica partiti a febbraio da Dubai, negli Emirati Arabi Uniti per concludersi il
prossimo agosto con la finale di Birmingham in
Gran Bretagna.
Il Grand Prix di quest’anno toccherà nove città di
quattro continenti e fa parte della strategia di IPC
Athletics di sfruttare il successo di Londra 2012
per creare maggiori opportunità di competizione
di alto livello per atleti di grande risonanza e per
sviluppare un calendario di eventi a lungo termine. Accanto al circuito annuale del Grand Prix
sono previsti numerosi appuntamenti mondiali e
continentali che sono già stati fissati da qui fino
al 2017.
Il prossimo agosto si svolgeranno a Swansea, in
Gran Bretagna, i Campionati Europei IPC di atle-
tica paralimpica, mentre ad ottobre i migliori atleti asiatici si incontreranno a Incheon, in Corea
del Sud per i Giochi Parasiatici.
Doha, capitale del Qatar, ospiterà a novembre del
2015 i Campionati Mondiali e, a breve, annunceremo la città che ospiterà gli Europei del 2016.
Prima dei Giochi Paralimpici di Rio del 2016,
migliaia di atleti avranno avuto la possibilità di
gareggiare in competizioni di grandissimo livello. Sono sicuro che tra due anni in Brasile assisteremo al migliore evento di atletica paralimpica
della storia.
Vorrei infine ringraziare gli organizzatori che
continuano a rendere la tappa di Grosseto una
delle più importanti dell’intera stagione di atletica paralimpica, e anche Allianz, primo partner
internazionale di IPC Athletics e principale sostenitore del Grand Prix di questo fine settimana.

Lo sport è un continuo confronto con i propri limiti,
e promuove, giorno per giorno, l’intento di superarli
ed andare oltre. Questo accade anche nell’impegno
di incoraggiare una nuova cultura sociale che è quella di creare la sensibilità di saper godere del talento
delle diversità presente in ciascuno di noi e di acquisire la capacità di andare oltre i nostri tabù culturali.
Gli Italian Open Championships 2014 di Grosseto
vogliono essere la sintesi di questi concetti. Questi
Campionati fanno parte di un progetto pluriennale in
grado di portare l’atletica italiana paralimpica ad un
costante confronto tecnico mondiale e verso un continuo innalzamento del livello di competitività dei
nostri atleti. Tale scopo potrà essere un valido sostegno per una crescita culturale e sociale della nostra
comunità, capace di focalizzare la propria attenzione
sul valore della “diversità”, e sapendo in essa individuare ed esaltare le abilità ed i talenti a discapito di
discriminazioni e pregiudizi che portano ad azioni di
emarginazione ed isolamento dell’individuo.
Si tratta di obiettivi veramente ambiziosi per i quali
nutro il personale orgoglio di perseguirli con la forte
complicità e l’incessante lavoro di tutta la famiglia
federale FISPES, che rappresento, la Fidal, il Comitato Italiano Paralimpico ed il Comitato Paralimpico Internazionale.
A tutti loro e a tutte le amministrazioni locali toscane,
in primis la città di Grosseto, va il mio sincero ringraziamento. Un particolare pensiero di gratitudine
va a coloro che saranno i veri protagonisti dell’evento: il pubblico, che aspettiamo numeroso allo Stadio
Zecchini, e gli atleti, che, ancora una volta, saranno
capaci di stupirci con le loro brillanti prestazioni,
facendo vibrare i nostri cuori con intense emozioni.
A tutti loro un fraterno abbraccio sportivo con un

Athletics is a sport for all. Running, jumping
and throwing are natural movements that are
enhanced by athletics gestures and daily passion.
Daily dedication is key to achieving good results
and represents a life inspiration for all individuals
who are proud to be athletes. This belief belongs
to all athletes participating to the Italian Open
Championships 2014 - IPC Athletics Grand Prix
that will be held in Grosseto from 30 May to 1 June.
The Championships will be a chance for athletes to
challenge each other and go over their limits. There
will be three days of top level competition thanks to
the international contenders who have entered the
Italian leg of the IPC Athletics Grand Prix.
Once again, Grosseto, my city, has the honour of
hosting a major event of our beloved sport after
the previous successful experiences of the 2001
European and 2004 World Junior Championships.
This is only the beginning of a joint journey
between the FIDAL, the FISPES and the Italian
Paralympic Committee for many years to come
starting from the bidding for the 2016 IPC
Athletics European Championships.
It will be a winning policy to build a network,
implement joint actions and organise athletics
events that can truly contribute to the development
of the regions that will host them. A challenge to
win together.
I wish the best of luck to all athletes competing
in Grosseto.

Once again, the city of Grosseto is hosting a
major international and national sporting event
like the Italian Open Championships 2014, key
para-athletics meeting of the IPC Athletics Grand
Prix series.
It’s a huge pride for the city to stage this
competition which shows how the Paralympic
world has developed over the years gaining
more and more visibility.
“Sport and Disability” are a joint concept that
represents one of the most significant chances
of promoting a cultural responsibility and, at
the same time, of endorsing and improving
human qualities beyond sports. Lots of men and
women have witnessed how relative is the idea
of disability, and abilities can be praised as an
undeniable social resource.
Also, the event will be a terrific opportunity
for the personal growth of our schoolgirls and
boys. With them we have experienced intense
emotions through the “At school with a Parastar” promotional campaign where they had a
chance to meet some of the best Italian Parachampions.
Sporting events like these Championships
are a valuable tool to fight against prejudices,
to understand that people have no limits and
sports help commitment, willingness, heart and
education overcome barriers.
I am confident that the city will positively respond
to the event and ensure their participation.

Atletica, uno sport per tutti. L’universalità del
nostro sport si declina in corse, salti e lanci, gesti
naturali esaltati dall’agonismo e da una passione
che vive nella quotidianità.
Grosseto, la mia città, avrà così l’onore di ospitare ancora una volta un grande evento della nostra
amata atletica dopo le passate esperienze di Europei e Mondiali Juniores del 2001 e 2004.
È proprio attraverso questo impegno che, giorno
dopo giorno, si costruiscono i risultati. È una filosofia che appartiene ad ogni persona che voglia
definirsi atleta. Lo sanno bene anche tutti coloro
che dal 30 maggio al 1 giugno saranno in gara
ai Campionati Paralimpici Assoluti di Grosseto.
L’auspicio è che questo sia solo l’inizio di un percorso che veda la FIDAL al fianco di FISPES e
Comitato Italiano Paralimpico per molti anni, a
partire dalla candidatura per gli Campionati Europei di atletica paralimpica del 2016 di Grosseto.
La rassegna tricolore sarà una bella occasione
per trovare, nel confronto con gli altri, la nuova linea di confine dei propri limiti. Saranno tre
giornate di sfide vere, avvalorate dalla presenza
di protagonisti internazionali che contestualmente prenderanno parte alla tappa italiana dell’IPC
Athletics Grand Prix.
Sarà un modo per fare rete, sviluppare sinergie e
costruire manifestazioni che sappiano diventare
realmente una risorsa per i territori che le accolgono. Una sfida da vincere insieme.
Non mi resta che fare uno sportivo in bocca al
lupo agli atleti che stanno per scendere in pista
a Grosseto.

La città di Grosseto ospita un altro grande evento
sportivo di rilievo nazionale ed internazionale,
come quello degli Italian Open Championships
2014, valevoli come Campionati Paralimpici
Assoluti e in concomitanza con l’IPC Athletics
Grand Prix.
È davvero con orgoglio che la città si farà teatro
di questa iniziativa che fa parte di un universo
capace negli anni di conquistare sempre più spazio e visibilità.
Il binomio “Sport e Disabilità” rappresenta una
delle occasioni più significative per promuovere una cultura dell’impegno e, allo stesso tempo,
per valorizzare le qualità umane, oltre che sportive. Tanti uomini e donne hanno saputo testimoniare la relatività del concetto di disabilità e le
proprie capacità possono essere esaltate come
una irrinunciabile risorsa sociale.
Si tratta insomma di una formidabile opportunità di crescita anche per i ragazzi e le ragazze
delle nostre scuole, con i quali abbiamo vissuto
intensi momenti di incontro, confronto e crescita
personale, grazie al diretto coinvolgimento degli
atleti paralimpici più rappresentativi della nostra
nazione, nella ben riuscita iniziativa “A scuola
con il campione paralimpico”.
Manifestazioni sportive come questa sono lo
strumento privilegiato per rimuovere pregiudizi,
per far comprendere che non ci sono limiti per
nessuno e che lo sport può a pieno titolo testimoniare come la voglia, l’impegno, il cuore e l’educazione siano in grado di superare molti ostacoli.
Sono certo che la città saprà rispondere all’evento con una grande partecipazione.

Italian Open Championships 2014 - IPC Athletics Grand Prix
After the 2013 edition, Grosseto has been
confirmed by IPC Athletics as the Italian
leg of the 2014 Grand Prix para-athletics
series.
The international meet which will welcome
athletes coming from all over the world
will take place, once again, at the Carlo
Zecchini Olympic Stadium from 30 May to
1 June.
The series which has started in Dubai last
February, takes in nine Grand Prix in four
continents and will climax on 25 August
with the IPC Athletics Grand Prix Final in
Birmingham, Great Britain.
The 2013 Grand Prix saw a total of 1,037
athletes from 69 countries participating
and set a total of 10 world records.
The competition programme features
track and field events over 100m, 200m,
400m, 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m, 10,000m,
4x100m and 4x400m relays, shot put,
discus, javelin and club throw, and high,
long and triple jump. Each event is open
to all classifications.

Dopo l’edizione del 2013, Grosseto è
stata confermata da IPC Athletics come
tappa italiana del circuito Grand Prix di
atletica leggera paralimpica.
Il meeting internazionale, che vedrà coinvolti atleti di tutto il mondo, si svolgerà ancora una volta allo Stadio Olimpico Carlo
Zecchini dal 30 Maggio al 1 Giugno.
Le competizioni, valevoli anche come
Campionati Paralimpici Assoluti per il
2014, saranno aperte a tutte le categorie
funzionali e comprenderanno gare maschili e femminili su pista (100m, 200m,
400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10000m,
staffette 4x100 e 4x400) e in pedana (getto del peso, lancio del disco, del giavel-
lotto e della clava, salto in alto, in lungo
e triplo).
Il circuito, che si compone di nove Grand
Prix in quattro continenti, è partito da Dubai lo scorso febbraio e si concluderà a
Birmingham con la finale prevista per il 25
agosto.
Nel 2013 ben 1037 atleti di 69 diverse nazionalità hanno partecipato alle competizioni del Grand Prix. Dieci i record mondiali stabiliti.

• Accommodation
The Fattoria La Principina Hotel has been
identified as main accommodation site
and will serve as headquarters for the
Italian Open Championships 2014 - IPC
Athletics Grand Prix.
Upon arrival NPC/NF delegations,
international and national officials, and
media should check in at the reception of
the hotel.

NPC/NF team leaders will find a dedicated
welcome desk in the Vetulonia Room,
next to the hotel reception.
• Competition venue
The Carlo Zecchini Olympic Stadium
is the main competition venue of the
Championships.
The Bruno Zauli venue will host a few
throwing events and serve as training
facility as well.
• Training venue and storage room
The training venue will be open on
Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday
30 May 2014 from 8:00 until 19:00. During
competition days the training venue will
be open from 7:15.
A storage room for all technical equipment
will follow the same opening hours.
Athletes are invited to pay particular
attention during their training in order to
avoid any risks for themselves and the
others. In the event the training venue
will be crowded and for athletes’ safety
reasons, the Local Organising Committee
will be entitled to suspend any training.
Athletes wanting to collect or store their
technical equipment will be asked to
provide their names and respective
NPC/NF. Throwing equipment should be
returned at the end of every day.
• Transport services
A shuttle bus service from the Fattoria
La Principina Hotel to the Carlo Zecchini
Olympic Stadium will be operational from
7:20. Buses will run every 20 minutes.
Duration of travel is 10 minutes.
Last departure from the stadium is
scheduled at 19:30.
Transfers to the Grosseto Misericordia
Hospital for VI classifications will be
provided upon specific request from
NPCs/NFs to the welcome desk of
the Fattoria La Principina Hotel. On
competition days transport service
opportunities will be increased. Timetable
will be available at the welcome desk of
the Fattoria La Principina Hotel.

• Impianto di gara
Lo Stadio Olimpico Carlo Zecchini è l’impianto di gara principale dei Campionati.
Il complesso sportivo Bruno Zauli ospiterà
alcune gare di lanci e servirà come campo
di allenamento.
• Campo di Allenamento e Magazzino
Il campo di allenamento sarà aperto nelle giornate di mercoledì 28, giovedì 29 e
venerdì 30 dalle ore 08:00 alle ore 19:00.
Durante i giorni di gara l’apertura del campo sarà anticipata alle 7:15.
Anche il magazzino per il deposito dei
materiali osserverà gli stessi orari. Si invitano tutti gli atleti a prestare la massima
attenzione durante i loro allenamenti e ad
evitare qualsiasi situazione di pericolo. Il
COL si riserva di sospendere eventuali
attività di allenamento qualora le condizioni di affollamento del campo non consentissero uno svolgimento in sicurezza delle
esercitazioni.
Per il ritiro e il deposito dei materiali agli
atleti verrà richiesto di indicare il loro nominativo e il paese di appartenenza. Gli
attrezzi da lancio devono essere riconsegnati al termine di ogni giornata.
• Trasporti
Il servizio di trasporto dall’Hotel Fattoria
La Principina al complesso sportivo sarà
operativo tutti i giorni dalle ore 7:20. Gli
autobus partiranno ogni 20 minuti circa.
La durata del trasferimento è di 10 minuti.
L’ultima partenza in programma dal complesso sportivo è fissata alle ore 19:30.
Il servizio di trasporto per le visite di classificazione VI sarà organizzato con dei
transfer speciali. Si invitano le delegazioni
interessate a chiedere tale programma direttamente al desk di accoglienza presso
la hall dell’Hotel Fattoria La Principina.
Nei giorni di gara il servizio sarà potenziato. Gli orari saranno consultabili presso il

• Anti-Doping
During the event the Anti-Doping Dept.
of the Italian Paralympic Committee in
co-operation with IPC Anti-Doping will
conduct random anti-doping controls on
athletes.
Athletes are invited to comply with the
international Anti-Doping rules and must
be available to any doping controls and
personnel.
The Anti-Doping area is located under the
main tribune of the Zecchini Stadium.
• Victory Ceremonies
International events
Only victory ceremonies included in the
Rules and Regulations of the event will
take place.
Within 45 minutes from the end of their
event, athletes should gather to the “Call
Room Ceremonies” located under the
main tribune of the Zecchini Stadium to
attend the ceremonies.
National events
All victory ceremonies related to the
National Championships will take place
following the Italian 2014 Rules and
Regulations (Vademecum Attività 2014).
Within 45 minutes from the end of their
event, athletes should gather to the “Call
Room Victory Ceremonies” located under

Durante l’evento l’Ufficio Antidoping del
Comitato Italiano Paralimpico, in stretto
coordinamento con il dipartimento Antidoping di IPC, effettuerà dei controlli a
sorpresa.
Gli atleti sono tenuti ad osservare le vigenti norme internazionali ed a rimanere
a disposizione del personale preposto ai
controlli.
L’Area Antidoping è collocata sotto la tribuna principale delle Stadio Zecchini.
• Cerimonie di Premiazione
Gare internazionali
Saranno effettuate solo le cerimonie di
premiazioni previste dal regolamento della manifestazione.
Gli atleti sono tenuti a presentarsi entro
45 minuti dal termine della gara presso la
zona “Call Room Premiazioni” sotto la tribuna principale delle Stadio Zecchini.
Gare nazionali

Media Workroom
A media workroom will be located inside
the Zecchini Stadium. Working desks will
be supplied for use by accredited media
with a WiFi connection.
The official press conference of the Italian
Open Championships 2014 will be held
on Friday, 30 May at 11:30 at the Sala
Consiliare of the Municipality of Grosseto.
Media Tribune
The media tribune is located in the main
stand of the Zecchini Stadium and offers
40 tabled positions plus 30 non-tabled
positions.
WiFi connection in the media tribune will
be available.
Mixed Zone
At the end of every event, athletes will be
directed to the Mixed Zone.
The Mixed Zone is located at the end of
the 100m finish line.
Interviews with athletes can only be
conducted in this area.
• Photographers
Photographers are required to wear a
photo bib that will be available at the main
helpdesk of the media workroom.
There will be dedicated photo positions

delegations.

Buses will be operational from 7:20 and
will run every 20 minutes. Duration of
travel is 10 minutes. Last departure from
the stadium is scheduled at 19:30.
Gli autobus saranno operativi dale 7:20
con una frequenza di 20 minuti. La durata
del transfer è di 10 minuti. L’ultima partenza dallo Stadio è prevista per le 19:30.
On competition days transport service
opportunities will be increased. Timetable
will be available at the welcome desk of
the Fattoria La Principina Hotel.
Durante i giorni di gara il servizio trasporti

Championships 2014 volunteers are:
• Passion, getting the chance to
experience a major International
event serving athletes coming from
all over the world;
• Flexibility, adapting to different tasks
after receiving specific instructions
and trainings from their respective
manager;
• Punctuality, starting their shifts on
time to cover all event’s needs and
follow the daily programme.
Per i volontari degli Italian Open Championships 2014, le parole d’ordine sono:
• passione, perché avranno l’opportunità di vivere un evento internazionale a contatto con sportivi provenienti
da ogni angolo del mondo;
• flessibilità, per potersi adattare alle
varie esigenze seguendo le istruzioni
che saranno sempre comunicate dal
responsabile di settore;
• puntualità, per non lasciare ruoli scoperti e rispettare i programmi.
All volunteers will be assigned to a specific
function and will refer to a manager who
will work under the guidance of Cristiana
Artuso, volunteers coordinator for the
Local Organising Committee.
Volunteers on daily shift will collect their
meal vouchers at the LOC Secretariat
located at the Bruno Zauli training facility.
Meals will be available at the venue’s
temporary tent following shift times.

The Carlo Zecchini Olympic Stadium
is located in Via Atleti Azzurri d’Italia in
Grosseto, in the Gorarella district and in
the sporting facilities area, west from the
city centre.
Built in 1956 and opened to the public in
1960, the Stadium hosted three football
matches of the Rome 1960 Olympic
Games. It was also the competition venue
for the 2001 European and 2004 World
Junior Championships.
From the railway station to the Stadium
By bus: take us number 1, via Gramsci
bus stop. Then walk through the railway
tunnel and along Via Vetulonia until the
main entrance of the Stadium.
On foot: take viale Mameli, proceed
along via Sonnino, then walk through the
railway tunnel and along Via Vetulonia
until the main entrance of the Stadium.
• Stadio Zecchini
Lo Stadio Olimpico Carlo Zecchini si trova
in via Atleti Azzurri d’Italia a Grosseto, nel
quartiere di Gorarella e nella zona degli
impianti sportivi, ad ovest del centro storico della città.
Progettato nel 1956 ed inaugurato nel
1960, ha ospitato tre partite del torneo
di calcio ai Giochi Olimpici di Roma nel
1960. Per l’atletica leggera è stato la sede
dei Campionati Europei Juniores nel 2001
e dei Campionati Mondiali Juniores nel
2004.
Come arrivare allo stadio dalla stazione
In autobus: linea 1 fino a via Gramsci,
proseguire a piedi attraverso il sottopassaggio ferroviario, poi in via Vetulonia fino
all’ingresso dello stadio.
A piedi: andare a destra in viale Mameli,
proseguendo lungo via Sonnino, poi attraverso il sottopassaggio ferroviario e in
via Vetulonia fino all’ingresso dello stadio.
