Research topics:
- Foreign and Comparative Literature: aims to provide a trans-disciplinary and transcultural outlook on the interpretation and analysis of
literary texts pertaining to modern European and non-European literatures and cultures.
- Linguistics, Translation and Interpretation: offers an interdisciplinary approach linking foreign languages, general linguistics and Italian
linguistics with translation and interpretation in various languages (French, English, Russian, Serbian and Croatian, Spanish, German).
- Italian Studies: aims to provide and enhance skills and competences within various avenues of research in the field of Italian Studies,
including the history of Italian literature, literary theory; the history of the Italian language, Romance philology, comparative literature
and the history of the book/document.
Research programs: research programs will be decided by Teaching Board of the Ph.D course within the course topics.

LM-38 Modern Languages for International Communication and Cooperation (Lingue moderne per la comunicazione e la cooperazione
internazionale)
LM-39 Linguistics (Linguistica)
LM-94 Specialized Translation and Interpreting (Traduzione specialistica e interpretariato)
Degree (ex D.M. 509/99) or specialist/Master’s degree (ex D.M. 509/99 e D.M. 270/04) equivalent to those mentioned above.
For academic degrees obtained abroad see art. 3 and 4 of the announcement.
Knowledge of one of the following foreign languages: French, English, Russian, Serbian and Croatian, Spanish, German. For curriculum 1
and 2 the foreign language aptitude tests are to be carried out in the language of the literature or linguistics relevant to the topic of
research.
DOCUMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS TO BE ATTACHED TO THE APPLICATION FORM ADMISSION:
Compulsory documents and qualifications:
1. Compulsory documents and qualifications according to art. 5 of the announcement.
2. A copy of the degree-level thesis relating to the necessary qualification to apply for the Doctorate Course.
3. Research Project: max 10,000 characters including spaces (also including the bibliography).
Optional documents and qualifications:
1. A maximum of three publications (accompanied by the list – Attachment F)
2. Other qualifications to be subject to consideration (accompanied by the list – Attachment E). These must correspond with abovementioned regulations.

The conduct of competition:
Evaluation of qualifications, written and oral exam.

Implementation procedures:
The written exam in Italian varies according to the curriculum.
For the curricula Foreign and Comparative Literature, and Linguistics, Translation and Interpretation a
summary redacted in the language of the literature or linguistics relevant to the topic of research is expected
as outlined as a priority in Attachment A.

Implementation procedures:
The oral exam will focus on a discussion of the written exam and the research project. An aptitude test in
the foreign language is also expected as outlined as a priority in Attachment A. For the curriculums Foreign
and Comparative Literature, and Linguistics, Translation and Interpretation aptitude tests are to be carried
out in the language of the literature or linguistics relevant to the topic of research.
Candidates obtain a pass with a score in the exams not less than 63.
