UE – CULTURE PROGRAMME 2007 - 2013, STRAND 1.2.1
P
erforming Gender is a special project led by Gender
Bender Festival and Cassero LGBT Center on the
two-year period 2013-2015, together with Dutch
Dance Festival, Paso a 2 - Certamen Coreogràfico de
Madrid and Queer Season – Domino.
17 choreographers, performers and visual artists from 4
European countries (Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Croatia)
share a voyage of research, training and creation based
on the representation of sexual orientations and gender
roles in contemporary dance.
The aim of the project is to create works which tell of new
forms of contemporary identities to a broad European
audience, to overcome prejudices and to set up an open
dialogue based on differences. The starting point of
this journey is the body of the artist, seen as the proper
cultural medium to portray these new representations.
Workshops, residencies and meetings are challenging our
group of choreographers, dancers, performers and visual
artists to play with their identities, calling into question
certainties and stereotypes. At the end of this journey,
the artists will be asked to produce works to be staged in
established and renowned European museums.
P
Bender Festival e Cassero LGBT Center, realizzato
dialogo aperto sulle differenze.
