Boedapest themastad festival City2Cities 2014
Met György Konrád, György Dragomán, programma’s over Sándor Márai en meer!
Het internationale literatuurfestival City2Cities heeft dit jaar, naast Dublin,
Boedapest als themastad. Van 5 t/m 13 april staan de Hongaarse cultuur en in het
bijzonder de literatuur centraal.
Het festival strijkt neer in een historische spiegeltent in het midden van de stad Utrecht.
Op zondag 6 april ontmoet u hier de Hongaarse grootmeester György Konrád die de
Belle van Zuylenlezing verzorgt. Naderhand kunt u genieten van een literair diner in
Hongaarse sferen met optredens van Krisztina Tóth, de Váradi Gipsy Band en vele
anderen. Een dag later, op maandag 7 april, staat tijdens een filmvertoning dé
geheimtip uit de Hongaarse literatuur centraal: Miklós Mészöly.
13 april: Festivaldag in monumentaal Paushuize
City2Cities 2014 sluit op zondag 13 april feestelijk af in het monumentale Paushuize. In
de prachtige gerestaureerde ruimtes van het 16-eeuwse verblijf van Paus Adrianus
treden een middag lang schrijvers, muzikanten en andere artiesten op. En ook de
Hongaarse literatuur is rijk vertegenwoordigd:
De internationaal vermaarde schrijver György Dragomán vertelt over Boedapest,
György Spiró treedt aan in een speciale City2Cities-editie van de Hongaarse Salon en
regisseur Ursul de Geer geeft een mini-college over literaire meester Sándor Márai.
Pianovirtuoos Gergő Teleki brengt tot slot stukken ten gehore van de grote Hongaarse
componist Franz Liszt.

The international literature festival City2Cities selected Budapest, along with
Dublin, as theme city fort his year’s edition. From April 5 – 13 the Hungarian
culture and especially the literature are the center of the attention.
The festival takes place in a historic ‘mirrortent’ in Utrecht’s city center. Here, on Sunday
April 6 you meet the Hungarian literary master György Konrád who gives the annual
Belle van Zuylen Lecture. Afterwards you can enjoy a nice Hungarian diner with
performances by Krisztina Tóth, the Váradi Gipsy Band and many others. One day later,
on Monday April 7, a showing takes place of a documentary about one of the best
writers of the 20th century: Miklós Mészöly.
April 13: Festivalday in monumental ‘Paushuize’
City2Cities 2014 ends on Sunday April 13 with a grand final in the monumental
Paushuize (‘Pope’s House). Writers, musicians and other artists perform this day in the
beautifully restored rooms of the 16th century residence of Pope Adrianus. And
ofcourse the Hungarian literature is well represented:
The internationally renowned author György Dragomán tells about Budapest, György
Spiró performs in a special City2Cities-edition of the Hungarian Salon and Dutch
theatredirector Ursul de Geer gives a short lecture about the literary master Sándor
Márai. The brilliant piano player Gergő Teleki plays music of the great Hungarian
composer Franz Liszt.
