STORY LINE EXPERIENCE THE HISTORY Exhibition bunker Health shop PROGRAM SCENE 1: UNDERGROUND The short-cut path runs from the Clingendael estate, through the project precinct, into the ‘Uilennest’ district. This Viewpoint sequance starts from the Clingendael connection. Restaurant and catering From this end both historical bunkers will be visible from the path. The double kitchen bunker will be accentuated by the path sloping down through one of the entrances. This bunker contains an art exhibition based on the exisitng spaces and historical objects of the bunkers. Daylight and air is added by a cut in the roof, expressing the cut of the zig-zag wall into the mass. The other entrance of this bunker continues by a stairs to the short-cut path again. Small exhibition of history PJK The Seyss-inqart bunker keeps its ‘camouflage’ of the old farm. However this viepoint makes the intervention visible with the cuts in the roof, bringing in daylight. The garden, belonging to the bunker spa is covered by the zig-zag wall for privacy reasons. Another inside view is visible when continuing the short-cut path inbetween the two bunkers. A Tribune for outdoor stage cut is made where both buildings were connected. One side will be the entrance to the exhibition, the other one an insight into the spa area where water is flowing out as a fountain. Tea house Continuing the path brings us to the entrance of the bunker spa. This entrance, containing a reception, is spacious and SHORTCUT inviting through glass walls and an atrium showing the concrete roof construction. Connection Clingendael park Main entrance exhibition bunker Entrance fitness & health centre FRAMEWORK SCENE 2: BIRDS EYE When passed through the bunker precinct, we arrive inbetween the bunkers and the historical kazerne. A recreational cycle route runs through, connecting The Hague with Wassenaar. Where this used to be a hard seperation line between the two parks, Oosterbeek and Clingendael, it will now be a connection. The zig-zag path continues into a viewpoint on a height of fiftheen meters. From this point an amazing view will be visible of The Hagues skyline as well as the Clingendael house and gardens. This element connects the history of this whole area into one birds eye view. Going up to this viewing platform already is an experience itself through changing ‘Gate’ to the recreation landscape height of the side walls as well as the small ‘shooting-holes-like’ openings, highlighting different elements in the area. Connection to Oosterbeek park Main entrance restaurant The base of the viewpoint construction continues into the ground with an impassable staircase, making the tunnel visible. The tunnel, which connects the hotel and beauty centre with the bunker spa, will get daylight and a view on Connection main building the ‘endless’ staircase.
