Practical information
the patient
•• can use social maximum billing;
•• can apply for the social third-party payer
system;
•• is entitled to other benefits, such as a 50%
discount on public transport. Hospitals are
not allowed to charge certain supplements
for patients who stay in shared rooms.
For whom?
The Omnio status can be applied to anyone:
employee, unemployed people, selfemployed people, single-parent families …
The applicant only has to fulfil the conditions with regards to his income. The health
insurer will calculate the family income based
on the income of all people registered at the
same address.
How does this work?
•• The patient applies for the Omnio status
with his health insurer.
•• When applying, the patient has to present
a proof of income.
•• The health insurer will help the patient to
complete the application.
•• After examining his situation, the health
insurer will invite the patient and the
people living with him to adapt the data
on their SIS cards. After that they will have
the Omnio status.
Important
If the patient is already entitled to a higher
reimbursement, he does not have to apply
for the Omnio status. He will remain entitled
to a higher reimbursement and to all other
benefits as long as the conditions are met.
More information
The patient can ask for more information
about his personal situation at his health
insurer. If you are a social worker and have
any questions, you can contact the health
insurer by phone or via their website.
