kerst onveilig. Na de landelijke zwarte piet
discussie vonden de Heyl Brothers het hoog
tijd om Kerstmis eens onder de loep te
leggen. Het zijn natuurlijk mensonterende
werkomstandigheden waar de elven zich in
bevinden. Hoe zit het met hun pensioen of
vakantiedagen?
Laten we kerst eens in de hedendaagse
sociale maatschappij plaatsen.
In Santa’s Cause bevindt de kerstman zich
in een wereld waar tradities niet meer
vanzelfsprekend zijn maar maatschappelijk
onder vuur worden genomen. Dit met alle
gevolgen van dien. Hoe overleeft Santa in
een wereld waar geen plaats meer is voor
traditie?
Santa’s Cause is een short comedy met een
satirische ondertoon met Roel Ypma
in de rol van getormenteerde kerstman.
Synopsis
Na het zwarte pieten debacle, gingen alle remmen los. PETA ging actie voeren tegen de paashaas wegens dierenmishandeling en al snel
vormden Santa’s little helpers hun eigen vakbond en gingen in staking. Santa en kerst kwamen zwaar onder vuur te liggen en Santa werd de
meest gehate man op deze aardbol. Uitgekotst door de mensheid raakte Santa steeds meer aan lager wal. Wanneer hij ontdekt dat zijn vrouw
hem verlaten heeft voor de hoofdelf zijn voor Santa de kerstrapen gaar…

Director’s duo The Heyl Brothers terrorize
Christmas. After the nation “ black Pete”
discussion the Heyl Brothers decided to
have closer look at Christmas. After all,
the work circumstances of the elves are
inhumane and degrading. How about their
pension funds and holidays?
Let’s place Christmas in our current society
and see what happens. In Santa’s Cause we
encounter Santa in a world where traditions
lost their value and are publicly criticized.
Beyond repair. How can Santa survive in
a world where all tradition is lost? Santa’s
Cause is a short satiric comedy with Roel
Ypma starring as our deeply tormented
Santa.
Synopsis
After the controversial “black Pete” debacle, no tradition remained safe. Encouraged by the widespread attention PETA started protesting about
Easter bunny abuse and Santa’s helpers formed their own union and went on strike. Soon Christmas became a political chaos and our once
beloved Santa a menace to society. Shocked by the sudden public hate, Santa’s path went downhill from there.
When he discovers his wife left him for his former elf manager, all hell breaks loose..
