The 1981 born German bass-baritone has studied voice at the prestigious “Hochschule für Musik
Hanns Eisler Berlin” under the tuition of Julia Varady and Alexander Vinogradov. Further studies were
taken from Masterclasses with the Moscow based teacher Svetlana Nesterenko.
His repertoire includes a wide range from early music to contemporary composers.
In 2004 he sung one of the leading roles in the premiere of the opera „Malpopita” by Walter Goehr,
coproduced by Komische Oper Berlin. This production is available by the label Capriccio.
As a member of the Komische Oper Berlin‘s ensemble he has sung Masetto (Don Giovanni), Polizeikomissar (Rosenkavalier), 1.Handwerksbursche (Wozzeck), Conte Ceprano (Rigoletto), Marquis
d‘Obigny (Traviata), Fiorello (Barbiere), Saretzky (Onegin), Hermann/Schlemihl (Hoffmanns Erzählungen), Bogdanowitsch (Lustige Witwe), Comissario Imperiale (Butterfly) and more.
His roles also include Polyphemus in „Acis and Galatea” (Handel), Figaro and 1. Geharnischter (Mozart), Sparafucile in „Rigoletto” (Verdi), Betto da Signa in „Gianni Schicchi” (Puccini). 2010 engagements include „Acis and Galatea” at Philharmonie Berlin and Sarastro in a touring production of
Mozart‘s „The Magic Flute”.
For the demanding role of Mozart‘s Osmin at Hebbel Theatre Berlin, Tobias Oliver Hagge was nominated as Young Artist of the Year 2008 by the opera magazine OPERNWELT.
2010 he made his debut with Polish National Oper Warsaw in the role of Goddess Athena in the opera
„Oresteia“ by I. Xenakis and will come back for the Re-run of that production 2011. Furthermore, he
sung the role of the Doctor (Traviata) in Campo Grande/Brazil.
2011 he sang Tonio in „Pagliacci ” in Brasilia National Theatre as well as King Thoas in Handel‘s „Orestes” in Hamburg.
Plans for 2012 included a debut as Leporello in Berlin and Colline in Brasilia National Theatre. In the
Berlin production of Mozart‘s „The Marriage of Figaro” at the Bode Museum in 2012 Tobias Hagge
sang Almaviva.
Tobias Oliver Hagge has worked with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Michail Jurowski, Justus Franz,
Franck Ollu, Karl-Heinz Steffens, Simon Hewett as well as stage directors like Andreas Homoki, Calixto
Bieito and Richard Jones.
