Intermediate Mid Interpretive Reading: I can understand simple
personal questions.
Intermediate Mid Interpretive Reading: I can understand what is asked
for on a simple, popular magazine questionnaire.
Intermediate Low Interpretive Reading: I can understand a simple
posting on a friend’s social media page.
The purpose of this activity is to make connections between students’ interests and
the text. In this chapter of the novel, La hija del sastre (available on
www.tprstorytelling.com), students meet the antagonist, Ignacio. He mentions how
he plans to trick Emilia into revealing her father’s secret by making her fall in love
with him. This is a great opportunity to get students to connect with the characters!
Make enough copies of the first two pages (front to back) for your entire class OR
choose to project the sheet and have students note their answers on a piece of
paper. Give them a few minutes to answer the questions and total their scores.
Using their total score, have students determine which character they are most like.
Continue the activity by using target language to discuss whether they think that the
character really represents their personality!
