MISIÓN PARROQUIAL
MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of St. John XXIII, are a multi-ethnic Roman Catholic
parish (founded on July 1, 2006) formed from the union of the Church
of the Resurrection, Fontana and St. Thomas More, Rialto. We seek
to nourish the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all families and people, so that
they can rejoice in the love of God in this life and in the life to come.
We endeavor to do this by fostering: an authentic Christian Stewardship, the Christian education of our youth and adults through Resurrection Academy and other programs, outreach to the poor and needy, and
the celebration of the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist.

ENCOUNTERING GOD IN THE SACRAMENT (20)
Have you wondered why some marriages end sooner
than expected? The most part of it is ignorant about what marriage is all about. What a person understands marriage to be
affects how he or she enters into it and lives it out. This week
we are going to consider the three types of marriage to help us
know what is the will of God or human perspectives on marriage.
What is Contract Marriage? A contract is a carefully orchestrated exchange of promises that spell out specific duties for a specified length of time. When the purpose of a contract has been fulfilled, the contract ends. Viewing marriage as
a contract shifts the orientation from pursuing the couple's
"common good" to pursuing the “good of each individual.” In a
contract marriage, each partner asks: "What's in it for me?" instead of "How can I help?" When a prospective husband or wife
enters into marriage with the mind to leave if things do not expected for selfish reasons, it is a contract marriage. Because
Contract is based on rights and responsibilities and is motivated
by self-interests rather than by unconditional love, contract
marriage does not suit the nature of marriage as a unanimous
sharing of life together by couples.
What is Covenant Marriage? A covenant is “an
agreement between two parties based on promise.” There are
two types of covenants: unilateral and bilateral. Marriage is a
covenant when it is bilateral. As a bilateral covenant, in marriage the two people fall in love and willingly agree to honor
vows of moral fidelity and faithfulness “until death do us part.”
The exchange of vows constitutes a mutual agreement and the
marriage covenant is put into effect before witnesses. A bilateral covenant marriage has a set of rules that are binding upon
both parties. It is drawn up and put into effect for mutually beneficial purposes and it remains in effect for as long as the covenant stipulates. It comes to an end when (a) either party is unfaithful to the agreement, or (b) when the object for which the
covenant marriage was created is fulfilled.
This is the kind of marriages that prevailed in the Old Testament and
was susceptible to divorce (because covenant marriage is conditional).
If a man takes a wife, and after they are married she is unpleasing
to him because of something objectionable in her, let him give her
a statement in writing and send her away from his house. And
when she has gone away from him, she may become another man’s
wife (Deut 24:1-2).
What Marriage as a Sacrament? Sacrament is a means of
encountering God and his grace. Marriage is a sacrament because in
the sacramental celebration of marriage, the couple encounters God
who seals their togetherness with the Holy Spirit. This way the couple
undergoes a transformation in which the man and woman become
inseparably one and receive the grace needed by husband and wife to
live together validly and licitly with rights to conjugal love (Math 19:4
-6).
In sacramental marriage husband and wife pledge themselves
to each other and to God, inviting God to be a partner in the marriage
and become accountable to God. In this situation, there are three parties to it. This is what Paul means when he likens Marriage to the
relationship between Jesus and the Church (Eph 5:31-32). The family
of the married thus becomes a domestic Church in which the will of
God prevails in every situation. Here marriage means the giving of
one’s life to wife or husband (1 Cor. 7:1-3) indissolubly as Christ has
married the Church and gave his life for her, with divine love and forgiveness (Eph 5:21-27). Which one of the above represents your understanding of marriage? Is this understanding in line with the will of
God for marriage? Have a blessed weekend.

¿Se ha preguntado por qué algunos matrimonios terminan
antes de lo esperado? La mayor parte es la ignorancia sobre lo que en
realidad es el matrimonio. Lo que una persona entiende de matrimonio
afecta a cómo él o ella entra en él y lo vive. Esta semana vamos a tener
en cuenta los tres tipos de matrimonio que nos ayude a saber cuál es la
voluntad de Dios o perspectivas humanas sobre el matrimonio.
¿Qué es el contrato de matrimonio? Un contrato es un
intercambio cuidadosamente orquestado de promesas que deletree
deberes específicos para un período de tiempo especificado. Cuando se
ha cumplido el propósito de un contrato, el contrato se termina. Viendo el matrimonio como un contrato cambia la orientación de perseguir
a la pareja “ buen comun” a perseguir lo “bueno de cada individuo”. En
un matrimonio de contrato, cada pareja pregunta: “ Que es lo que hay
para mi?” en vez de “Como puedo yo ayudar?” Cuando un prospectivo
esposo o esposa entra al matrimonio con la mentalidad de irse si las
cosas no son como se esperaban por razones egoistas, es un matrimonio
de contrato. Porque el contrato está basado en los derechos y responsabilidades y está motivado por intereses personales en lugar de
amor incondicional, contrato de matrimonio no adapta a la naturaleza
del matrimonio como un intercambio unánime de convivencia por parejas.
¿Qué es el pacto matrimonial? Un pacto es “un acuerdo
entre dos partes basada en la promesa.” Existen dos tipos de pactos:
unilaterales y bilaterales. El matrimonio es un pacto cuando es bilateral. Como un pacto bilateral, en el matrimonio las dos personas se
enamoran y acepta voluntariamente honrar a votos de fidelidad moral y
ser fiel “hasta que la muerte nos separe”. El intercambio de votos constituye un mutuo acuerdo y el Convenio del matrimonio se pone en
vigor ante testigos. Un matrimonio de pacto bilateral tiene un conjunto
de reglas que son vinculantes para ambas partes. Es elaborado y puesto
en vigor para fines mutuamente beneficiosas y permanece en efecto
has que el pacto estipule. Llega a su fin cuando (a) cuando cualquiera
de los dos es infiel al acuerdo, o (b) cuando se ha cumplido el objeto
por el cual fue creado el pacto matrimonial.
Este es el tipo de matrimonios que prevaleció en el Antiguo Testamento y era susceptible al divorcio (porque el matrimonio de pacto es condicional).
Si un hombre toma a una mujer y se casa con ella, puede ser que le
encuentre algun defecto y ya no la quiera. En ese caso, escribira un
certificado de divorcion que le entregara antes de despedirla de su
casa. Habiendo salido de su casa, puede ser la mujer de otro.
(Deuteronomio 24:1-2).
¿Que es un Matrimonio como Sacramento? El Sacramento significa el encuentro con Dios y su gracia. El Matrimonio es un sacramento porque el la celebracion del sacramento
del matrimonio, la pareja se encuentra con Dios que sella su
union con el Espiritu Santo. De esta manera la pareja experimenta una transformacion en la cual el hombre y la mujer seran
los dos una sola carne y reciben la gracia que necesitan como
esposo y esposa para vivir valido y lícitamente con derechos al
amor conyugal (Mateo 19:4-6)
En el matrimonio sacramental marido y mujer se comprometen mutuamente y a Dios, invitando a Dios para ser un compañero
en el matrimonio y rendir cuentas a Dios. En esta situacion, Hay tres
partes. Esto es lo que se referia Pablo cuando compara matrimonio a la
relación entre Jesús y la iglesia (Efesios 5:31-32). La familia de los
casados se convierte en una Iglesia doméstica en la que prevalece la
voluntad de Dios en cada situación. Aqui el matrimonio significa la
entrega de su vida a la esposa o esposo ( 1 Cor. 7:1-3) indisolublemente

Be aware of Immigration Fraud. The office of Justice for Immigrants in the Diocese of San Bernardino provides information
on issues related to immigration and citizenship. Please note
that such persons or organizations like “Catholic Scholar Program” is not recognized nor has the Diocese’s permission to
approach any church in the Diocese of San Bernardino. Another one that was a fraud is: “Estudiantes Universitarios Catolicos
de America.” They came here 3 years ago to encourage students to get more educations, but then were looking for $250
for “Ciudadania” and $300 for “Peticiones”.

grandmother or wife remembered in the Mass as
a Mother’s Day Gift write the name of your love
one and drop it in the collection basket. These
will then be placed by our Altar during the month
of May.

annual May Crowning of our Blessed Mother. This
Sunday May 3rd at 3:00pm at the Fontana Site Church.
Everyone is invited after the Crowning for a small
gathering in the social hall.

Volunteers are needed to help assemble rose
bouquets for our church’s Mother’s Day Rose
Project. We are making rose bouquets in order to
raise donations for moms and babies in need. Just
a few hours of your time on Saturday, May 9th
between 9:00am and 3pm will help provide the
resources needed to save lives. Teens are especially welcome and encouraged to join this fun and rewarding effort. The
rose bouquets are being assembled at The Cathedral 2525 N. Arrowhead, San Bernardino, CA

pick up after all the masses in the church lobby
this weekend. We ask each family to take 2
books of 10 tickets. Each book cost $10.00.
Tickets will also be available at the Fontana &
Rialto offices.
Pre-Sale Carnival Ride Tickets are now available this weekend in
the church lobby and at the parish offices during office hours. There
are BIG savings if you purchase your tickets before the Summer Fest.
Cost is $15 for a strip of 20 tickets.

Catholic Charities will be at the Fontana center in the social hall on
Saturday May 9th from 9am to 1:30pm to assist our parishioners and
other members of the community with the many different services

Cal-Fresh, or know someone that may need assistance with utilities, or

Fontana Center Catechetical Program
Registrations for Catechism Grades 1-8 will be Sunday, June 7th, 2015
from 9am to 2pm in the parish hall. We will have more information
available next weekend.
