Campus Asia-EAUI Program “East Asian University Institute (EAUI) for Asian Regional Integration” Application Guide for Campus Asia Intensive Course (CA Intensive Course) Peking University and Waseda University Joint Program in Beijing The Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies(GSAPS), Waseda University applied to the “Type A-II CAMPUS Asia Support for the Formation of a Core Center” of the “Re-Inventing Japan Project” by the MEXT with the Concept “East Asian University Institute (EAUI) for Asian Regional Integration” in the academic year of 2011 and this concept was successfully adopted by the MEXT. This concept will receive subsidies by the MEXT until academic year of 2015 and has a concept to establish the core center to be formed through a coalition of five universities: Korea University (Korea), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Peking University (PRC) Thammasat University (Thailand) in order to run programs of Asian regional cooperation and integration (to include: single semester exchange students, summer/winter schools, double degree programs) as well as programs of joint research. The central objective of this initiative is the establishment of the East Asian University Institute (EAUI) as a permanent center of graduate education for Asian regional integration in 2020. The objective of the EAUI will be to foster graduates with high levels of expertise capable of contributing to the realization of both global and regional public interests. In order to achieve the goal stated above, Campus Asia-EAUI Program will conduct Campus Asia Intensive Course (Hereinafter, CA Intensive Course), as a joint education program in Beijing. Basic Information about the course Course Title ：Seminar on Asian Integration VI Theme ：Globalization and Development in East Asia Instructor ：GSAPS Assistant Prof. Fumie OHASHI, Faculty of Peking University Schedule ：November 26th (Mon.)-November 29th (Thu.)（Four days course）<25th In, 30th Out> Eligibility ：Graduate Students enrolled in a regular degree program at Waseda University （Master course students and 1st year Doctoral students） Recruiting Number ：Around 5 Credit ：2 Credit（GSAPS official course toward graduation） Subsidies ：A round trip flight ticket between Tokyo and Beijing and accommodation will be provided by Waseda University （※Visa Application Fee, Insurance Fee, and miscellaneous fee will be borne by each student） Lecture Outline ： Campus Asia-EAUI Program will offer an intensive course in Beijing, China from November 26 to 29 (+2 days for transportation). This is a joint course of Waseda University and Peking University (PKU) so that the lecturers from both universities will take charge of the sessions. Under the theme of "Globalization and Development in East Asia", we will take an interdisciplinary approach to explore the issues and challenges for East Asia, especially China. By actively participating in lectures, discussions and fieldwork trips together with the PKU students, we will practically approach the regional cooperation in East Asia. Pick up the application form at the CA office and make a payment for the insurance fee (JP¥3,810/6 days).
