Letex Spezialgarne GmbH was founded in 1980. At that time fast weaving machines for
selvedge were being put under ever greater stresses.
Letex GmbH aimed to develop selvedge yarns that would be able to withstand such stresses.
The requirements profile on selvedge yarns has since become increasingly complex. The
rotational speeds of weaving machines have risen still further, while the stresses during the
finishing process can be enormous. It is our goal to keep pace with these requirements and to
provide a selvedge yarn that meets these challenges head on.
We now produce some 250,000 kg of selvedge yarn every year. We deliver to some 350
customers across the world producing more than 2 billion metres of material.
Our selvedge yarns are used in both traditional fabrics for clothing and in industrial fabrics for
airbags, geotextiles, construction textiles etc.
A further major product group in our range are sewing threads. Our customers for this group
are quilt manufacturers and ready-made clothes factories.
The continuous rise in demand for yarns and threads with strictly defined technical properties
led to Letex moving to its own, modern production facilities in 1998 and relocating its
headquarters to Augsburg.
We dispose of a modern machine pool that enables us to ensure a consistency high standard
of quality. That same approach to quality is why we have been certified to DIN EN ISO 9001
since 1996 and have since obtained DIN EN ISO 9001-2000 certification.
