A Walk Through History
For centuries, Salzburg was a proud state ruled by
Archbishops who lavished great wealth and splendid
architecture on the city sometimes called the “Rome
of the North“ because of its many churches and cathedrals. It is also called “the city of Music“ as the
birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. On this
walking tour, you can take in examples of Salzburg‘s
breathtaking Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque artistry. Near the start of your walk you will encounter
the world-famous gardens of Mirabell Palace, and
view the house where Mozart was raised. Crossing
a footbridge into the Baroque City Center, you will
see the house where Salzburg’s most famous composer was born, and the renowned shopping street,
the Getreidegasse. Among the picturesque streets
and hidden byways of the Old City you will see the
Salzburg Dome Cathedral, St. Peter‘s Monastery
and many other important sights and symbols. Your
guide will cover not only the history of Salzburg, but
also the most interesting information about its most
famous citizens, from Mozart himself to Maria von
Trapp. The tour starts at the Panorama Tours busterminal across from the Mirabell Palace next to the

1 Mirabell Gardens
The tour begins and ends here at the Mirabell Palace. The gardens of the palace
were prominently featured in the song “Do-Re-Mi”.
2 Leopoldskron Palace
Stop at the lake made famous in the boating scene and see the Captain’s backyard in the movie filmed in the private palace gardens.
3 Hellbrunn Palace, the Gazebo
Visit the gardens of Hellbrunn Palace to find the gazebo, rebuilt here especially
for the fans of the movie.
4 Nonnberg Abbey
View the Nonnberg Abbey, an active convent today where the “real” Maria was a
novice and where Maria and the Captain married in real life. The Abbey does not
allow visits within its walls, but you are invited to walk up to the Gothic church
for a visit or for church services.

Enjoy the scenery of the Lake District shown at the beginning of the movie and in the panorama shots filmed around

oder die Salzburger Fürst-Erzbischöfe im Jagdschloss Fuschl: Die malerische Seenlandschaft der Bundesländer Salzburg, Oberösterreich und der Steiermark fasziniert. Besuchen Sie das Mozartdorf St. Gilgen, die Heimat von Mozarts Mutter und
genießen Sie eine ca. 25 minütige Schifffahrt nach St. Wolfgang (die Schifffahrt ist
von 01.05. bis 26.10. inkludiert). In St. Wolfgang besichtigen Sie den berühmten
gotischen Flügelaltar von Michael Pacher und haben die Möglichkeit zu einer Kaffeejause im weltbekannten Restaurant „Im Weissen Rössl“. Die Fahrt zurück nach

Salzburg’s Lake District: It was here in Salzburg’s beautiful Lake District
where Salzburg’s Prince Archbishops held royal hunts and the Austrian Emperor
Franz-Josef and his family spent their summer vacations. On this tour, you experience the breathtaking beauty of one of Austria’s loveliest regions. Our journey
begins by leaving Salzburg to reach the scenic and historic landmarks of the countryside. We pass along Lake Fuschl with a view of Castle Fuschl on our way to
the historic village of St. Wolfgang on the banks of Lake Wolfgang. Here, there is
time to see the winged Gothic altar by Michael Pacher and stop in at the famous
“White Horse Inn”. From St. Wolfgang, we board the boat for a journey across
the lake to St. Gilgen, the picturesque village where Mozart’s mother was born
(May 1st – October 26th). We continue our journey along the lake of Mondsee as
we turn our steps towards Salzburg. The ever-changing scenery will make this an
unforgettable tour.

Bavarian Mountains
Eine romantische Fahrt durch das schöne Berchtesgadener Land
Vom Mirabellplatz aus fahren wir über die Staatsbrücke und entlang der
Salzach. Vorbei an der barocken Altstadt gelangen wir über die Alpenstraße
zur früheren Grenzstation Marktschellenberg. Ein Stück begleitet die Königsseeache unsere Fahrt durch die bezaubernde Tallandschaft der Bayerischen
Alpen und nach kurzer Zeit erreichen wir den Obersalzberg (ca. 1000 Meter
Seehöhe). Dort, wo einst die Anführer des Dritten Reiches ihre Residenz hatten, ist heute nicht mehr viel zu sehen, nur eine Straße, die hinauf führt
zum Kehlsteinhaus. Unsere nächste Station ist der Königssee, eingebettet
zwischen den steil aufragenden Bergen, von denen der Watzmann wohl der
Bekannteste ist. Nach ausreichend Zeit am Königssee geht es zurück nach
Berchtesgaden, wo Sie vor der Heimfahrt noch das eine oder andere bayerische Schmankerl verkosten können.
Enjoy majestic alpine mountains and romantic waters
We head out along the Old Town of Salzburg following the Salzach out of
the city, past the legendary and mythical Untersberg Mountain and to the old
border crossing into Germany. We continue alongside the King’s Lake River
on our drive through the lovely Bavarian alpine valley with its picturesque
farms and villages. A short ascent up the lower part of the Obersalzberg
allows for a glimpse of the Eagle’s Nest at the summit and a view of the
valley below. Our destination is the King’s Lake (Königssee) nestled among
the steep and imposing mountains of the Bavarian Alps. After your stay at
the lake, we head into the charming town of Berchtesgaden for a brief stop
before returning to Salzburg.

An adventure awaits you on this excursion into Bavaria
We leave the city of Salzburg, pass the Untersberg Mountain, full of
legends and myths, and enter Germany by the old border crossing and
travel through the alpine valley heading to the Obersalzberg. Little is left
to be seen of the Third Reich except the Eagle’s Nest perched atop its
summit. You may catch a glimpse of it as we head up the lower part of
the mountain. It is inside this mountain, however, that the real adventure begins. Donning traditional miner’s clothes, you enter the 490 year
old mines by train to hear fascinating tales and facts about this underground world. There is nothing to fear as you descend into the grottoes
using the slides hundreds of miners have before. A brief visit to the village of Berchtesgaden before returning to Salzburg completes the tour.

Kehlsteinhaus
Eagle‘s Nest
Sie erleben eine Fahrt durch die bayerische Alpenwelt
mit atemberaubenden Ausblicken
Die Rundfahrt führt Sie vom Mirabellplatz aus über die Alpenstraße ins
benachbarte Bayern und auf den auf ca. 1000 Höhenmeter gelegenen
Obersalzberg. Von dort fahren Sie über die 70 Jahre alte Straße zum
Kehlsteinhaus. Es ist bemerkenswert wie sich die 6,5 Kilometer lange
und 4 Meter breite Straße in Richtung Kehlsteinhaus hinauf schlängelt
und dabei einen Höhenunterschied von 800 Meter und eine Steigung
von 22 % bewältigt. Das letzte Stück zum Kehlsteinhaus müssen Sie
über einen 124 Meter langen Tunnel und den im Fels gebauten Lift zurücklegen. Dann erwartet Sie bei Schönwetter ein imposanter Rundblick
über das Salzachtal und das Berchtesgadener Land mit seiner faszinierenden Bergwelt. Auf der Rückfahrt nach Salzburg gibt es noch einen
Stopp in der malerischen Stadt Berchtesgaden.
An unforgettable blend of beauty and history
Heading out of Baroque Salzburg, we cross the old Austrian-German
border into Bavaria. We drive through the valley, passing scenic farmhouses to reach the foot of the Obersalzberg. Continuing up the mountain to the bus terminal, we change to special coaches equipped to take
us up the rest of the ascent to the brass elevator of the Eagle’s Nest.
The WWII elevator transports us to the Eagle’s Nest perched on top of
the mountain. From here, we have a magnificent view of the towering
snowcapped peaks of the Bavarian Alps and the surrounding countryside. It is but a short walk from here to the summit cross on the Kehlstein. After the descent back into the valley, we head to the picturesque
Bavarian village of Berchtesgaden for a short stop before returning to
Salzburg.

Start the journey travelling through the famous
Salzkammergut (Lake area) to Hallstatt known as
the “Pearl of the Salzkammergut”, passing many
local villages on route which introduce you to the
local area. On arrival in Hallstatt it is hard to know
where to start, perhaps with a mountain train ride
up to the “World Heritage View” viewing platform
(optional, € 10,–/person), giving you both a magnificent view and helping you understand how Hallstatt
started life. Take a leisurely lakeside walk seeing how
the houses above you cling onto the mountainside,
pass by the Mullbach waterfall which allowed Hallstatt somewhere to grow. A visit to the local museum
is also interesting (optional) or a visit to the “Bone
House” behind the Catholic church, proving an interesting view into local family life.

valley past many quaint villages, idyllic farmhouses and many of Austria’s ski resorts. We ascend the
“Steirische Ramsau” to the base of one of our alpine glaciers—the Dachstein. Once in the romantic village, there is time for a stroll in the frosty air
and lunch in one of the local inns. Just ask your
guide to give you an insider’s tip.
Then you’ll hear the jingling of bells on the reigns
as the sleighs line up across the field, ready to take
you on a sleigh-ride through the magical winter
landscape! A stop for refreshments is made along
the way for the horses to rest and where you have
the opportunity to try some Austrian specialities.
Then it’s back to the sleighs for the return to the
bus and the journey back to Salzburg.
