Dr. Janice Witt Smith, MBA, SPHR, is an award-winning educator; experienced human
resource and leadership development consultant; trainer; published author; researcher;
and executive, business, and career coach. She helps others become (better) leaders
for life. They are more than the work that they do or as part of the organizations for
which they work. We assess how they experience the workplace (in both how they act
and interact) and help them connect ways in which organizations can appropriately
leverage their capabilities and interests in a way that brings value to both the
organization and to the people who support the organization. Dr. Smith has over 20
years of business experience and 15 years of experience in successfully coaching and
developing Millennials.
Education: B.S. Degree in Business Administration and Management, Indiana-Purdue
University at Indianapolis; MBA with Concentration in Human Resource Management
(HRM) and PhD in HRM, Organizational Behavior, and Labor Relations with a minor in
Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University (Virginia Tech). Dr. Smith is certified as a Senior Professional in Human
Resources (SPHR) and has amassed over 1,750 hours of executive coaching; 1,400
hours with clients of the Center for Creative Leadership.
Clients include those in financial services, healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations,
public sector (city, county, state and federal governmental agencies), K-12 and
university academic faculty and staff, Department of Defense (SES employees, flagship
officers, NCOs), plant managers, religious and nonprofit organizations. Dr. Smith has
over 20 years of experience in business and has coached individuals from all levels in
the organization, including senior level.
Dr. Smith is certified on many psychological instruments, including CCL Assessment
Suite, FIRO-B, MBTI, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Change Style Indicator, Decision Style
Profile, Prospector, California Psychological Index, PressTime Simulation, Workplace
Big 5, and others.
