CONDITION PRODUCT Best results are obtained if the product is conditioned 40ºF to 85ºF (4 to 29°C).
APPLICATION TEMPERATURE Substrate and ambient air temperatures ranging from 40ºF to 90ºF (4 to 32°C).
IN-SERVICE TEMPERATURE RANGE Crackbond EJ-SL will perform in temperature from -40ºF to 200ºF (-40 to 93°C).
COVERAGE See MPII, Manufacturer’s Printed Installation Instructions for Coverage Estimate Chart
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE Prior to application, test all chemicals and cleaning agents under exposure conditions. Crackbond
EJ-SL has good chemical resistance to water, aliphatic solvents, mineral oils, grease, dilute inorganic acids and alkalis. Avoid
aromatic solvents, concentrated acids, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
LIMITATIONS & WARNINGS
 Should not be used as a structural sealant
 May be painted, however compatibility tests are recommended
 Should not be used as a glazing sealant
 Should not be used for continuous immersion applications
 Do not apply to freshly treated wood (treated wood must age 6 months)
 Low temperatures and low humidity will extend cure time
 Not recommended for adhesion to PE, PP, PTFE, silicones and bituminous substrates. We recommend a
preliminary compatibility test when working with different substrates.
 New concrete must be cured for 28 days prior to installation of the sealant
SPECIFICATION Flexible joint sealant material shall be a single component, moisture cure, polyether elastomeric material.
The joint material must have and elongation of 400% (ASTM D412), movement capability or +/- 25% (ASTM C719), a tensile
yield of 150 psi (1,0 MPa) (ASTM D412), and pass artificial weather test with no cracking (ASTM C793). Joint material
must not contain isocyanates, solvents, halogens or acids. Sealant shall be Crackbond EJ-SL from Adhesives Technology
Corp., Pompano Beach, Florida.
MPII--MANUFACTURER’S PRINTED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS For complete Installation Instructions for
Crackbond EJ-SL refer to our Website, www.atcepoxy.com or call ATC for more information at 1-800-892-1880.
JOINT PREPARATION Expansion joint must be clean, dry, free of dust and grease, and free of chipping paint. All dust
must be removed using pressurized moisture-free air or vacuum. Minimum width: 1/4" (0.6cm), Maximum width: 1
3/16" (3 cm), Minimum depth: 1/5" (0.5cm) Joint should be twice as wide as it is deep (2 x depth = width). Do NOT bond
joint material to the bottom of the joint. Use backer rod to control depth and maximize elongation.
CRACK REPAIR PREPARATION Crack must be clean, dry, free of dust and grease, and free of chipping paint. For
best results, route crack with a dry diamond blade. All dust must be removed using pressurized moisture-free air or
vacuum. Minimum width: 1/4" (0.6cm), Maximum width: 1 3/16" (3 cm), Minimum depth: 1/5" (0.5cm). Do NOT bond
joint material to the bottom of the crack. Use sand at the bottom of the crack to control depth and maximize elongation.
CLEAN UP Clean tools and equipment with solvent such as isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
Do not allow product to harden on equipment.
SAFETY Please refer to the MSDS for Crackbond EJ-SL published on our Website, www.atcepoxy.com
