Skills
Theoretical
I have a broad base of core knowledge stemming from undergraduate majors in econometrics,
finance and mathematical statistics and tutoring more than 12 distinct units at both undergraduate
and postgraduate levels across statistics and econometrics.
My research has touched on diverse topics including robustness in univariate and multivariate
scenarios; investigations into the properties of U -statistics and U -quantile statistics; time series
analysis, including asymptotic treatment of short and long range dependent processes; inference
for quantile regression models; and model selection in linear, generalised linear and mixed models.
Communication
I have a sophisticated writing style exemplified through theses, journal articles and consulting
reports.
I have a demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. This has been recognised
through awards for the most outstanding talk presented by a young statistician at the 2012
Australian Statistical Conference and the 2013 Young Statisticians Conference as well as numerous
teaching citations.
I work effectively within team environments, for example on a number of applied research projects
and organising committees for conferences, and have proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
Computational
I am an expert R user with experience developing Shiny based web interfaces; using Rmarkdown
for reproducible research; and package development utilising parallel processing techniques.
Matlab/Scilab; Python; LATEX and TikZ; d3.js; familiarity with OS X, UNIX and Windows systems.
Leadership and Mentoring
In my role as the head mentor for a tutor development program and peer assisted learning program
I developed leadership and organisational skills. I regularly take time to support and share my
experiences with colleagues and research students. I am currently a college contact with the early
career researcher network at ANU and have been an active member on the organising committee
of four conferences.
