TERMS OF REFERENCE Position Organization Remuneration Supervisor Headquarters Nature of engagement Duration: Duties and Responsibilities: Conservation Biologist (CB) Parambikulam Tiger Conservation Foundation, Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, Anappady, Palakkad -678661 Rs.25, 000/- per month (consolidated). Executive Director, Parambikulam Tiger Conservation Foundation. Parambikulam Tiger Reserve (PKMTR) Annual contract. One year (Extendable) Conduct ecological research & monitoring in Parambikulam Tiger Reserve (PKMTR) and adjoining landscapes; Organize Tiger Monitoring activities in the core and buffer areas of PKMTR and other adjoining landscapes of relevance; Organize and conduct periodic surveys/ population estimation of flora and fauna; Develop and review training schedule and training curriculum for nature camps and other capacity building programmes. Provide periodic training to the frontline staff in biodiversity conservation, ecological studies, wildlife and health monitoring etc., Monitoring ecological impacts of the various ongoing ecotourism programmes/ other ecodevelopment inputs; Undertake ecological surveys for preparation and revisiting of microplans of the EDCs/ VSSs of Parambikulam Tiger Reserve and adjoining areas. Conduct studies and provide technical advice for streamlining the habitat management activities in Parambikulam Tiger Reserve. Develop and maintain GIS facility for PKMTR landscape. Assist the Executive Director in mobilizing financial resources through independent projects, programmes, consultancies etc. Provide high quality technical support (verbal and written) to PKMTR management on various issues of biodiversity conservation. Any other conservation related duties assigned by Executive Director, Parambikulam Tiger Conservation Foundation. Recruitment Qualifications Education and Post Graduate degree in Biological Sciences preferably on wildlife Experience: management. Outstanding communication and documentation skills and research aptitude At least two years of working experience in the field of wildlife conservation with recognized organizations / institutions / Departments. Proficiency in GIS and computer is essential Willingness to work, travel and stay in remote locations is a must. Prepare protection-oriented, ecologically sustainable, socially acceptable and economically viable ecotourism programmes/ projects in tune with the Tiger Conservation Plan of PKMTR and extend technical support for the implementation. Conduct periodic review/ monitoring of ecotourism / livelihood programmes for streamlining and improving the efficiency. . Undertake capacity building programmes for the EDC members for effective implementation of ecotourism and ecodevelopment programmes in PKMTR and adjoining landscape. Carry out feasibility studies, assess market/financial sustainability of ecotourism and other ecodevelopment programmes. Prepare periodic reports as required by the management. Recruitment Qualifications Education and Post Graduate degree in Social Sciences/ Development Studies/ Experience: Management Studies Qualifications on Tourism and Travel studies / Hospitality and Tourism management / Public relations or other related fields are desirable. One year (Extendable) Prepare and maintain the budget and accounts of the Foundation on behalf of the Executive Director; Prepare the profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports. Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions. Maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness. Provide inputs in preparing and to review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents. Analyse revenue and expenditure trends and make appropriate recommendations to ensure expenditure control. Resolve accounting discrepancies. Maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems. Supervise the input and handling of financial data in to the automated financial systems. Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits. Prepare the financial statement of a business. Other duties as assigned.
