Tord Harlin, Bishop emeritus in Uppsala diocese, was born in 1935 in Luleå, Sweden;
married Gunnel and has two sons and two daughters, one of whom was born in Zimbabwe,
where they spent ten years (1964–1965) in the service of Church of Sweden Mission and the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe.
Education: Teacher´s certificate, Luleå, 1958; BD, Uppsala, 1963; ordained minister in
Church of Sweden, 1963; Doctor in Theology, 1973, Uppsala University
Missionary work in Zimbabwe, 1964-1965; employed as Director of Church of Sweden
International Department of Studies, 1975–1983; Director of the Church of Sweden Board of
Inter Church and Ecumenical Affairs, 1984–1990, Bishop in Uppsala Diocese, 1990–2000.
Chairman of Church of Sweden Aid 1994–1996
Chairman of the foundation supporting the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe 1998
