December 2014 Issue NEWS Feature News: Sewer & drainage rehabilitation service launched Before After The latest service from MTS aims to repair pipework with minimal need for excavation to keep disruption to a minimum. Pipelines can crack and joints fail for a number of reasons including ground loading, erosion, faulty installation and root infiltration. The new sewer and drain repair service from MTS paid dividends for local Kent company Bates Office Supplies when a CCTV survey showed roots in the line, displacement and a major crack. Our repair team patched the crack using no-dig relining and dug up and replace another section of sewer and gully where excavation was essential. Relining restores drains and pipework to a better than new condition at a fraction of the cost of replacement. All Bathing Waters across the Southern Water region have met current standards for the 2014 bathing season. Steve Gilson, MTS Contracts and Operations Director said; “We have maintained planned works and kept all sites compliant while also dealing with many emergency flood responses. This achievement is thanks to superb team work across MTS.” In comparison, in 1988 38 of our Bathing Waters failed these standards. MTS continues to work with Southern Water to protect the coastal environment and bathing beaches across the region. In-house composting facility certified by BSI for quality and environmental management Composting Facilities Services (CFS) Ltd is our sister company which runs our innovative waste treatment facility. The industrial scale in-vessel composting system is the first of its kind in the UK, recycling sewage waste into beneficial soil conditioner. The plant at Kingsnorth, Rochester in Kent is fully licenced by the Environment Agency and treats around 17,000 tonnes of waste per year which would have otherwise been destined for expensive and unsustainable landfill. After a series of audits by the British Standards Institution, CFS Ltd is now certified for the ISO 9001 quality management system and ISO 14001 for environmental management. These are the world’s most widely recognised management standard systems, helping us to ensure consistent excellence in performance and customer service while maintaining our environmental responsibilities. 24/7 Tel: 01634 250326 www.mts-ltd.co.uk 2 Digester cleaning from MTS Cleaning live digester tanks at the Long Reach Sewage Treatment Works in Dartford, keeping down time to a minimum.
