warming up in 2015

the JANUARY 2015 newsletter
BARRINGTON OF OAKLEY | a Senior Lifestyle community | CINCINNATI, OH 45227 | 513-561-9100
JOIN US THIS MONTH FOR
warming up in 2015
Norrie showing off her festive Rudolph Wreath!
In the month of January, we are
celebrating the new year with
events to keep you warm and
toasty. For those crafty folks,
we will be making mittens out
of recycled sweaters and tiedyed scarves. Chef Dan will be
joining us to teach us how to
make Vietnamese Pho Soup
(Yummy!). The residents will
be asked to judge to see which
team member will take the title
of “Barrington of Oakley Chili
Champion 2015.” There will be a
presentation by Cincinnati Parks
educating us on “Animals in
Winter.” Since it is also National
Hot Tea Month, Julie from the
Spice and Tea Exchange will be
introducing us to some fragrant
and tasty teas that will be sure to
tickle our taste buds!
IT’S OUR PLEASURE TO SERVE YOU ...
word from your executive director
Happy New Year’s everyone! I hope
everyone enjoys the new format of our
calendar, you find it more interactive and
just overall fun. Each month, I will be
writing a small statement in the corner of
our newsletter. Each month will be a little
different, but will mostly pertain to current
events that affect us at the Barrington and
the community at large. Knowing myself,
we will be talking a lot of sports! I hope
everyone had a great holiday season with
friends and family and we are all starting
our years off right! If there are any topics

January’s Silver Star, Ruth Nathanson
THIS MONTH’S
silver star
RUTH ANN NATHANSON became
one of the initial residents of the
Barrington of Oakley in 2011. Ruth is
actively involved in all aspects of life at
BOAK, from basket-making instructor
to game participant and lifting her
voice with the community choir, just to
name a few. Ruth finds the best part of
living at the BOAK is the many varied
activities and the opportunity to share
those with many treasured friends. This
is home for Ruth Ann.

EVENT RECAP
where in the world?
HERE THERE AND
EVERYWHERE AT THE
BARRINGTON
We’ve plotted our travels
from birth and beyond.
Our Barrington Passport
challenge allowed us to
chart our course through
November starting with
creating a glass map
necklace identifying our
birthplace. We challenged
our knowledge of the world
through word games, state
capitol Bingo, map puzzles
and traveled through
Google Map to share places
we’ve lived throughout
our lives. We’ve feasted on
international fare during
Happy Hours, dinner and
luncheon outings and our
theater brought us worldwide travel destination
selections.
Annual Gingerbread House Competition!
