VS-2480 Update Information: Version 2.011 The following list describes enhancements to the Roland VS-2480 Digital Studio Workstation within software version 2.011. Refer to the documentation included with the update disk/files available from Roland Corporation US for the update procedure. The following problems have been corrected in version 2.011 software. GENERAL 1. In some cases, the PHRASE DIVIDE operation would not perform according to the set values, and automatic division of the phrases was not carried out normally. 2. When an attempt was made to copy in measure units with the Quantize function in PHRASE COPY, single measures would be lost under certain conditions such as when the tempo was set to 97 or when copying multiple times. 3. The Low EQ would occasionally become non-functional after repeated pressing of the EQ On/Off switch. (Normal operation would resume after selecting the Project again in PROJECT SELECT.) 4. There would be discrepancies at times when changing the DYNAMICS TYPE to “CMP+EXP” in the VGA MIXER screen if “No” was selected at the “Dynamics will be invalid on Input (Track) Mixer” prompt. This was a display issue only; operation was normal. 5. There were certain times when the KNOB/FADER ASSIGN target was set to “User” and using recently un-linked channels, the PAN/FADER values would not be directed to the correct destination target. 6. In some instances when inserting an effect, unity gain was not achieved when bypass was activated. AUTOMIX 1. Issues with Automix GRADATION and MICROEDIT have been refined and corrected. 2. When changing the “EQ Filter Type” with Automix-MicroEdit, sometimes the EQ type could only be changed to “Off” or “LPF”. However, when recording with Automix SNAPSHOT operation was normal. CDRW: CD WRITE / CD BACKUP 1. In some instances, “Operation Failed” was displayed when writing to CD with the VS-2480CD’s internal CD-RW drive, preventing normal audio CD WRITE and BACKUP functions. CDRW: MASTERING ROOM 1. When mastering in CDR mode with the MASTERING ROOM function, a slight amount of noise could occasionally be heard at the beginnings of songs. 2. Sometimes selected V. Tracks would not playback immediately after the Mastering V. Tracks were changed under certain conditions in the MASTERING ROOM screen. The following improvements have been made in version 2.011 software. 1. Control Surface functionality (UTILITY: CONTROL SURFACE) has been added. Please refer to the “VS-2480CD Control Surface Mode Guide” accompanying this update for more information. (This updated feature will work for all models of the VS-2480.) 2. The AUTOMIX SW can now be saved in either On or Off positions when storing a Project. 3. “VS-2400CD” is now a “Save As” option in the PROJECT EXPORT screen thus allowing CD backup of VS-2480 project data in VS2400CD format. 4. VS-2400CD data backup CD-Rs can now be recognized and recovered from the PROJECT LIST screen of the VS-2480. (Simultaneous conversion and importing of VS-2400CD data) 5. When performing a TRACK EXCHANGE, the track Names will be exchanged also. (NOTE: While the TRACK EXCHANGE function can be undone, the Name exchange is NOT undoable) 6. When performing a TRACK IMPORT, there is now an option to append the Source track to the end of an existing Destination track (i.e. a track with audio previously recorded or imported). This is helpful when compiling Master Tracks from individual projects into one project for Disk-at-Once CD burning. 7. The default FX RETURN levels have now been changed to the 0dB setting. (Press TR 17-24 …FX RTN faders 1-8 will reflect this.) VS-2480 Update Information: Version 2.009 The following list describes enhancements to the Roland VS-2480 Digital Studio Workstation within software version 2.009. Refer to the documentation included with the update disk/files available from Roland Corporation US for the update procedure. The following problems have been corrected in version 2.009 software. GENERAL 1. Further software improvements have been made to address remaining drive directory issues. Adjustments were made accordingly after discovering that individual hard drive variances could cause directory corruption, and possible loss of data. (Not all VS-2480 units would experience these directory problems.) a. At times, a Project would not load properly, and the VS-2480 would lockup. b. Remaining Time may have been displayed incorrectly due to directory errors. c. Project file sizes may have been corrupted due to directory errors. d. WAV Import/Export problems could occur due to directory errors. CDRW: CD WRITE / PROJECT LIST: BACKUP 1. During a CD Write or Backup procedure, an unexpected reset of the VS-2480 could occur. CDRW: TRACK EXPORT 1. In the V-Track Map, individual V-Tracks could not be selected via the mouse on the VGA screen. PLEASE NOTE: In software versions 2.005 through 2.009 (VGA Screen mode), the "Safe" setting in the UTILITY:GLOBAL PARAMETERS:LOCATOR/SCENE TYPE is NOT compatible and could cause the VS-2480 to lockup if the "Safe" option is selected. Please use the default setting of "Quick" to avoid VGA screen anomalies, and to prevent possible software lockups that could result in lost data. The "Safe" setting can be used, if necessary, only in LCD operational mode. VS-2480 Update Information: Version 2.008 The following list describes enhancements to the Roland VS-2480 Digital Studio Workstation within software version 2.008. Refer to the documentation included with the update disk/files available from Roland Corporation US for the update procedure. UTILITY: GLOBAL PRM 1. When the Knob/Fader Assign Sw is assigned to Fader and the Knob/Fader Sw is pressed to ON, the FX Return amount to AUX busses may be controlled by fader movements… making it much easier to control effects levels sent to the AUX busses for creating alternate mixes with effects (i.e. independent headphone mixes). The following problems have been corrected in version 2.008 software. GENERAL 1. Intermittent drive directory issues addressed with software improvements. a. After performing a “Store Current” operation, the VS-2480 may have locked up during the operation and could have possibly corrupted the directory. b. When recorded Automix data was saved in a project, the project size displayed may have been corrupted, or the remaining space displayed on the drive partition may have been greatly reduced. c. A certain isolated number of takes listed in the TakeList could cause directory corruption or lockups. CDRW: CD PLAYER 1. Directly after performing a CD PLAYER function, the Track Status buttons would not change from PLAY (green) status without reloading the project or initializing the mixer. CDRW: WAV IMPORT 1. When previewing 8 bit (or less) .wav files with very long file names, there was a problem that would restart or lockup the VS-2480. EZ ROUTING (VGA Only!) 1. When attempting to make track assignments for performing a Track Bounce operation, there was a problem when using the mouse to assign source tracks to destination tracks when previous adjacent tracks were linked. AUTOMIX 1. Automix data would playback intermittently or not at all when the VS2480 was set to be an MTC slave. 2. In Automix MicroEdit mode, the measure/beat/tick display was incorrect. Beats at the start of the measure were displayed as 00, when the correct display should have been 01. VS-2480 Update Information: Version 2.005 The following list describes enhancements to the Roland VS-2480 Digital Studio Workstation within software version 2.005. Refer to the documentation included with the update disk/files available from Roland Corporation US for the update procedure. The following problems have been corrected in version 2.005 software. CDRW: CD WRITE / CD BACKUP 1. Intermittent problems regarding the inability to burn audio or backup CDs from partitions other than IDE:0 were corrected in this software version.
