A Grab Bag Book Talk
When you have finished reading a realistic fiction book of your choice, you
will be preparing a Grab Bag Book Talk to present to your classmates.
1.
Select 4 objects that you will use to retell the story. The objects must
include the following:

1 object to represent the setting
 2 object to represent the main character

1 object to represent the conflict

For each item, write one paragraph that explains how that object
related to the story. You should put each paragraph on a separate index
card.

Place each object in a bag.

Be sure to put the title and author of the book on your bag.

Choose an appropriate bag, such as a duffle bag for an athlete or a

suitcase for a character that moves OR
Decorate a plain bag to illustrate something about the book.
DO NOT go out and buy a bag especially for this project. Use
something you have at home or decorate a paper bag.
Practice your presentation at home. You will have 5 minutes to present
your book talk in Reading class.

Bring your bag of objects to class.

Tell us the title and author of the book you read.

Pull each item out of the bag one by one and explain how that item
relates to the story (You may refer to your note cards – but you may not
READ your note cards).
