Name, #, class, date ________________________________________ A Grab Bag Book Talk When you have finished reading a realistic fiction book of your choice, you will be preparing a Grab Bag Book Talk to present to your classmates. 1. Select 4 objects that you will use to retell the story. The objects must include the following: 1 object to represent the setting 2 object to represent the main character 1 object to represent the conflict 2. For each item, write one paragraph that explains how that object related to the story. You should put each paragraph on a separate index card. 3. Place each object in a bag. Be sure to put the title and author of the book on your bag. Choose an appropriate bag, such as a duffle bag for an athlete or a 4. suitcase for a character that moves OR Decorate a plain bag to illustrate something about the book. DO NOT go out and buy a bag especially for this project. Use something you have at home or decorate a paper bag. Practice your presentation at home. You will have 5 minutes to present your book talk in Reading class. Bring your bag of objects to class. Tell us the title and author of the book you read. Pull each item out of the bag one by one and explain how that item relates to the story (You may refer to your note cards – but you may not READ your note cards).
