July 2014
I am not sure where the first six months of 2014 has disappeared to, but what I can say is that it was
chock a block full of quilting goodness. Mid March saw my very first Stitching by the Sea Retreat conducted over a weekend at Port Campbell. It was a bit of the unknown for me as I have never run a retreat before, but judging from the feedback it was a huge success. It was a great weekend with the 38
ladies all having a lovely relaxing two days of stitching, eating and laughing. (Dates and details for the
2015 Retreat are further on in this newsletter). Late March I attended the Colac Quilters Quilt Show
and, as always, it was a great show will lots of wonderful quilts on display. In April we headed to Melbourne with the shop to attend the Australasian Quilt Convention......Hannah and I had a great time
catching up with old and new friends and customers, as well as having a great ‘neighbour’ - my good
friend Lenora from Elm Grove Patchwork. I have booked my booth to attend again in 2015, but I have
made a promise to myself that I will be more organised next year . A fortnight after AQC, Hannah
and I flew to the US for 4 weeks....3.5 weeks of sightseeing prior to attending the International Quilt
Market in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While all of this was happening I was frantically stitching hexagons for my ‘Elenor Jean’ Quilt, and was so very excited when ‘she’ won 1st place in the Traditional
Quilt - Professional, and Best in Show in the recent Victorian Quilters Quilt Showcase. I am now the
proud owner of a new Bernina sewing machine, but I will have to have some lessons before I start using it.
Phew!........I hope that the next 6 months is a little quieter but I seriously doubt it with the Stitch in
Spring being run over 2 days in September.....double the ladies.....double the fun.....and just a ‘little’ bit
more work for me. With Gail Pan and Leanne Beasley my tutors for the weekend it is bound to be a
fantastic event!
Now onto a recap of some of the fabric that has arrived in the shop this year:

‘I Heart You’ by Moon Cookie Gallery, ‘Jelly Bean’ by Laundry Basket Quilts, a few bolts from
‘Bugaboo’, ‘Starry Nights’ & ‘Quilters Garden’ by Lynette Anderson Designs, and most recently
‘Baskets in Bloom’ by Gail Pan
And here is what is due to arrive over coming months:

‘Pine Fresh’ (Christmas range) by Sandy Gervais; ‘LuLu’ by Chez Moi; ‘Basically Hugs’ by
Helen Stubbings; ‘Lexington’ by Minick & Simpson; ‘Softly Spoken’ by Harriet Hargrave;
‘Persimmon’ by Basic Grey; plus more......lots to tempt you
Oh dear I might have to build another extension to the shop!
I am happy to announce 4 new Block of the Months that will be run over the coming months. Three are
regular type BOM’s while the 4th is just a little different.......Check out the details in this newsletter.

would like to make it or how much fabric you have! Class fee includes your own copy of Karen’s pattern (which I will purchase and print for you). I am hand quilting my sample so check it out next time
you are at the shop.

When God created Adam and Eve, He said:
I only have two gifts: One is the art of peeing standing ...
And then Adam stepped forward and shouted: ME!, ME!, ME!,
I would love it please ... Lord, please, please!
Look, it will make my life substantially easier.
Eve nodded, and said those things did not matter to her.
Then God gave Adam the gift and he began to shout for joy. He ran through the garden of
Eden and used it to wet all the trees and bushes, ran down the beach making drawings with
his pee in the sand ...Well, he would not stop showing off.
God and Eve watched the man crazy with happiness and Eve asked God:
What is the other gift? God answered:
Eve,..... a brain ... and it is for you ...!
