“The Border Community Alliance (BCA) provides
unique opportunities to educate and inspire
university students through transformative,
firsthand service-learning experiences. Students
are exposed to complex social, economic and
policy issues through summer internships,
research and alternative spring break trips.”
“I support the work of the Border Community
Alliance (BCA) and the Fundación del
Empresariado Sonorense A.C. (FESAC) because
together they build the ties that foster friendship,
trust, and prosperity among cross-border
communities. For them, the border is about
connection, not separation.”

BCA Programs
The Mission of the BCA is to support the educational,
public policy, social, healthcare, cultural and economic
development of the Arizona/Sonora border region to
improve the quality of life for border communities.
Public Policy Forums — We sponsor non-partisan forums to educate and inform local communities and policy makers.
It is by bridging the border through informed and
mutually respectful collaboration that we develop a
border region that serves as a model for international,
individual, community, cultural and economic
development.
“The Border Community
Alliance is a dynamic
organization that works every
day to connect the people
and places of Arizona and
Mexico in critically important
ways that create economic
growth, positive social impact,
understanding and policies
of great significance that
improve the lives of all of us
who live on both sides of the
border.”
— Frances Causey, Former CNN producer and director of award winning documentary “Heist: Who Stole The American Dream?”
The public and academic education programs of BCA and FESAC provide an objective and fact-based influence on the
formation of border-related public policy to improve the social and economic vitality of border communities. The US
Consul and staff are regular presenters at the BCA/FESAC cross-border tour program.
Academic Research and Service Immersion — Student internships and faculty research projects provide in-depth
exposure to border issues. Research participants have included Stanford, University of San Francisco, University of
Wisconsin, Loyola and other major universities.
Social Entrepreneurship Projects — BCA and FESAC develop and provide management support, including microlending options, to innovative projects that impact health and education. A prime example is working with ARSOBO,
a non-profit organization that provides all-terrain wheelchairs, solar-powered hearing aids and prosthetic devices.
Non-Profit Training — We offer Board development, strategic planning, collaborative programming and other
non-profit training to strengthen the communities that we collectively serve.
Consulting Services — BCA and FESAC offer professional consulting services to public and private sector enterprises
on strategies for successful bi-national community development.
Pass-Through Donations — BCA and FESAC offer a process for tax-deductible donations to Mexican charities.
BCA Events — Visit www.bordercommunityallicance.com for more information.
