A: The process is explained on the Trade-In page of this price sheet Q: Why can't I install drivers? A: If you do not have administrative rights on the computer, you will need to have your IT department do the install. Please have your IT department check that the software can communicate with the tester when done. Q: Why can't the software save test reports? A: If you do not have administrative rights on the computer, you will need to have your IT department grant you access to write files to the appropriate folder(s). PCMT Q: Why does the PCMT 8000 have different cables than previous PCMT Models? A: Some of the reasons for changing the cable design were as follows: -To allow for the NEMA TS1 and the NEMA TS2 16 Channel Cables to be integrated into one cable. -To eliminate the need for the SLNK 3000 to run the Port1/SDLC tests. -To eliminate the need for a separate cable to test monitors with the LA DOT or NC DOT modification. -To allow the PCMT 8000 to recognize what cable is being used. Q: Can the cables from my PCMT 2000, 2500 or 2600 be upgraded to work with the PCMT 8000? A: Unfortunately, the cost of reworking an existing cable is too high to make it worthwhile. Please note that modifying your cables on your own will void your warranty. Q: How do I know what cables I need for the PCMT 8000? A: The cables needed are determined by the standard and the number of channels. For instance, a NEMA, TS1 12 Channel Monitor will require a 006-0052 cable. -If you are unsure of what you need, call ATSI or fill out the Purchasing Specification on our web site. Q: Do the PCMT 2600 Carrying Cases work with the PCMT 8000? A: Yes, the carrying cases will work with the PCMT 8000. The PCMT 8000 is physically the same size as the PCMT 2600. Q: How long will the PCMT 2600 be supported? A: We currently have no plans to discontinue repair and calibration services for the PCMT 2600. Typically, we do our best to give our customers one year notice. We have a letter that talks about our support history on the PCMT 8000 page of our web site. The device has been integrated into the PCMT 8000 itself. All that is required is the 006-0055 cable or the 888-0093 cable. Q: Will the PCMT 2600 ever have Flashing Yellow Arow Testing? A: No, we will not be adding the FYA tests to the PCMT 2600. Q: When will the FYA tests for Caltrans monitors be available? A: We do not know . We are waiting on Caltrans to publish timings, voltages, etc. so that a test can be created. Q: Why does my PCMT make a “grinding” noise? A: This is the sound of the motor inside of the PCMT 2600 or PCMT 8000 adjusting the voltage. This is a normal sound and is no cause for alarm. Q: What does the software message “Error 3, Variac Not Responding” mean? A: This is often due to a blown fuse. Check the two fuses located on the front of the PCMT. Q: What does the software message “Error 9, Internal wiring Fault” mean? A: This message appears when the PCMT detects that the outlet the PCMT is connected to is incorrectly wired. Inductive Loop Q: Why is there no replacement model for the ALSA 1200 or 1250? A: The demand for the ALSA was not great enough for ATSI to develop a replacement model. However, the Quick Check and the HILT Kit together do most of the tests that the ALSA 1200 and ALSA 1250 performed. We do our best to keep these FAQ's updated in an imperfect world.
