ADMISSION NOTICE – 2014-15
SWARNIM GUJARAT SPORTS UNIVERSITY, GANDHINAGAR
Established by Government of Gujarat Act No. 22 of 2011
& Recognized by UGC u/s (2f) of the UGC Act 1956 and AIU
B.P.E.(3 YEARS) Six semesters
Eligibility:
1. The student who passed in the Higher Secondary Examination with any discipline
conducted by the Government of Gujarat; or an examination accepted as equivalent
thereto by the Board of Governors / MHRD, India, subject to such conditions as may
be prescribed there for.
2. Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance
test (written test, sports proficiency test, physical fitness test & marks obtained in
the qualifying examination) or any other selection process as per the policy of
University with due weight for physical fitness test.
Duration:
The B.P.E. Programme is for a period of three years. Each academic year shall
comprise of two semesters viz. Odd and Even semesters. Odd semesters shall be
from June / July to October / November and Even Semesters shall be from
November / December to April / May. There shall be not less than 90 working days
which shall comprise 450 teaching clock hours for each semester. (Exclusive of the
days for the conduct of University or external end-semester examinations).

M.P.E. (2 YEARS) Four Semesters as a P.G. Centre of SGSU
Eligibility for Admission:
A candidate seeking admission to M.P.E. programme must fulfill the following
conditions.
(A) He/She must be B.P.Ed., B.P.E. or B.Sc. (Health & Physical Education) from
Swarnim Gujarat Sports University or any other University recognized as equivalent
for the purpose.
(B) He /She must have obtained at least 55% marks in B.P.Ed., B.P.E. or B.Sc.
(Health & Physical Education).The reservation in seats and relaxation in the
qualifying marks for students of reserved categories shall be as per the rules.
(C) Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the
entrance test (written test, sports proficiency test, & marks obtained in the

qualifying examination) or any other selection process as per the policy of
university with due weight for physical fitness test.
M.P.E. Degree:
The candidates shall have subsequently undergone the prescribed course of
study in the University Department or a College affiliated to this University for a
period of not less than two academic years & shall have passed the examinations
prescribed& shall have fulfilled such conditions as have been prescribed therefore.
Duration:
The P.G. M.P.E. Programme is for a period of two years. Each academic year
shall comprise of two semesters viz. Odd and Even semesters. Odd semesters shall
be from June / July to October / November and Even Semesters shall be from
November /December to April / May. There shall be not less than 90 working days
which shall comprise 480 teaching/Practical Activity clock hours for each semester.
(Exclusive of the days for the conduct of University examination or external endsemester examinations). A candidate can avail a maximum of 10 Semesters (5
Years), in a continuous stretch of 5 Years from the date of admission to complete
Master's Degree.

M.PHIL. Physical Education (ONE YEAR)
Two semesters Full Time and Part Time program in P. G. Centre of SGSU
Eligibility: A Master’s degree in Physical Education or related subject/discipline
with at least 50% marks (SC/ST 45%) or equivalent at the first trial from any
recognized University/Institution. The admission to the M. Phil. in Physical
Education programme shall be done through an entrance test conducted by the
University. Those candidates who have cleared tests of UGC (NET/JRF), GSLET and
those who have more than 70 percent score are exempted from the entrance test.
General: 1) The degree of Master of Philosophy in Physical Education (M. Phil. in
Physical education) shall be considered an intermediate degree between the
Master’s Degree and the Doctorate Degree in the relevant subject and Faculty.
2) The students shall follow the rules prescribed by the University from time to
time, even if they are not included in these rules. The University has the right to
modify, change or add to the rules and regulations which shall be binding on the
students.
3) The M. Phil. in Physical Education Students shall be entirely responsible for any
duplication or plagiarism or piracy occurring in the dissertation. In case any such

acts are detected even after the award of the degree, the student shall be held
accountable for the irregularity and this may even lead to the cancellation of the
degree. The decision of the University in this regard will be final.
4) A candidate who has been registered for Ph.D. degree, may on cancellation of his
Ph.D. registration, be permitted to register for the M. Phil. in Physical Education
degree programme and submit the research work carried out by him/her for the
Ph.D. degree with such modifications as maybe deemed appropriate by the
candidate towards the dissertation of the M. Phil. in Physical Education programme,
provided he/she has undertaken the course work for Ph.D.
Conduct:
The M. Phil. in Physical Education degree course shall be conducted in a department
of the University or at a recognized institution or an approved institution of
research or at a college / institution that may be recognized for the purpose by the
Board of Governors on the recommendation of the Academic Council.

B.P.Ed. ( ONE YEAR) Two semesters
Eligibility: A candidate seeking admission to B.P.Ed. Programme must satisfy the
following conditions.
1. A bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Swarnim Gujarat Sports
University or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Health & Physical Education or a degree
in sports with at least fifty five percent marks from any recognized
University/Institution.
2. Any bachelor’s Degree with Physical Education as an elective subject with fifty
percent marks; or Any bachelor’s Degree with Physical Education as an elective
subject with forty-five percent marks and participation in National or State or InterUniversity competitions in sports or games or athletics recognized by Association of
Indian Universities or Indian Olympic Association; or Any bachelor’s Degree with
forty-five percent marks and having participated in National or State or InterUniversity Sports or games or athletics; or For deputed in-service candidates (i.e.
trained physical education teachers / coaches) Graduation with forty-five percent
marks and at least three years of teaching experience; or
Provided that the reservation or seats for SC or ST or OBC and other categories shall
be as in accordance with the Central Government or State Government rules and a
relaxation of five percent in marks in eligibility qualification shall be allowed to
candidates belonging to those categories.(As per NCTE Norms

3. Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance
test (written test, sports proficiency test, physical fitness test & marks obtained in
the qualifying examination) or any other selection process as per the policy of the
university with due weight for physical fitness test.
Duration:
A candidate admitted to the B.P.Ed. Programme shall undergo a regular course of
study for one academic year, that is, two semesters. Semester-I shall be from
June/July to October/November and semester-II shall be from November /
December to April/May. There shall be not less than 90 working days which shall
comprise of 450 teaching/working hours for each semester. (Exclusive of the days
for conducting University or external end-semester examinations). A candidate shall
have a maximum of 2 Semesters (1 year), in a continuous stretch of 1 year from the
date of admission to complete B.P.Ed. Degree.
